This is exactly what I talk about when I say you have to try out different loads to see what your barrel likes. Every barrel is different in what it likes and sometimes it goes against everything we know. Matching barrel twists with bullet weight is a good guideline but defiantly not set in stone. I hate to use the analogy "barrels are like a box of chocolates" but its true.
My best group ever with one of my AR's was 0.20" at 100 yards with 40gr v-max's running at about 3300fps. It just loved them and there was no reason why it did. Oddly enough it hated 55gr, 62gr, 63gr bullets but loved 69gr's.

The JP is an unbelievable rifle. With my 18" 1/8 twist. I have gotten with 77gr Black Hills Match a group of .77" with 4 shots. at 300 yards, 2, 5 shot groups using the best 4 shots, groups were 1.5" and 1 1/4" at 300 yards.

Awesome group. Makes me even more impatient to get my upper back from WOA. I can only hope I am able to get it dialed in like that.

Twist is a 1:8....I know...strange that it likes the 40gr bullets.
My two other JP's with 16" barrels also 1:8 shoot the same with the 40gr as well.
Try the 40gr Winchester white box hollowpoint loads.
They shoot awesome in every gun I have ever tried them in.
Or try the 52gr SMKs. My 18" really liked those as well.
Otoh, it also shot a 10 round 1.2" group (@200) with 69 SMKs a few weeks ago and that's with a 4x scope and 7-8000 rounds through the pipe...
JPs do rock :)

Nice set up and great grouping!!

Do I need any other reason to get one of my own? NOPE!

Wow! what a pic!
I love the 1:8 twist barrels but I never tried shooting 40gr. Something I should consider getting next time I go to the range. I usually go with 69gr. or 77gr. SMK with great results but I have heard some people getting good groups with decent varmit rounds.
Is that the Weaver scope? Did you ever do a range report on it? Thanks.

Thanks, I was just wondering what you thought about that scope. Knowledge is always good. You always have the cool toys.

Thanks, appreciate the input. No need to splain, the JP needs an appropriate accoutrement on top of it.

nice group but i just looked at the prices on that ammo and wow... not cheap at over $1 a round... I am going to now pick up some of the 40-45gr's and see how they do in my 20"
