This question is specifically for Randall but anyone welcome to chime in;

if money was no object & you were to build a .308 AR rifle with the best parts you could get, what would you get?

A friend wants to build the best he can get in .308 cal, & i'd like to help him get what he wants..

I suggested a 20" WOA flutecd ,stainless barrel, giselle drop-in match trigger group, etc..
What else?

He wants matching upper & lower(mfg)........besides that chime in.............

Thanks for your replys..

Bartlein/Krieger/Rock barrel. .260 if he reloads. Longer barrel if primary purpose is LR shooting

We all know .308 is the best... All you guys are trying to promote .243 and .260 so you can come in with new .308s when no one in looking....

i thought 308 was it. inform me. I want to build something similar too and get some serious range.

I would ask a lot of questions about what the guy wants to do with it, about his level of skill and if he reloads before I would ever start suggesting components.
There is no single "Best" build.
There are only "best suited for x" builds.

If he wants a serious longrange rifle, it won't be a semi-auto 308.

I don't know if these are the best but their 223's are, for their intended purpose.

Thanks for the replys guys1
Hes a long time shooter but not "serious" ,yet...
he wants to build in .308, but might be persuaded to something else.
We are going to costa mesa this weekend to have a look & he can get ideas..

He also wants to buy 5 or 10 lowers in .223/5.56

Why "build" anything? Now is the time to pick a factory rifle off of the rack. Why not a REPR? He could also get a M1A, and drop it into one of those Troy modular chasis stocks.

maybe your friend should join Calguns and explain just exactly what it is he's looking for.

I've suggested that very thing. I just don't know why he's reluctant, I'm just trying to help him get what he wants....
