Does abybody except DPMS makes such conversion kit? I specifically intrested in kit that has chrome lined burrel.
Also the only source for mags. I found is MWG.
http://www.mwgco.com/
I have no idea who they are and how good/bad stuff is. Anybody used them at all?

I would like a 7.62x39 upper too - but no one has a chrome-lined barrel.

Rumor has it that the USA 7.62x39 'conversion' magazines work quite well, if you have any.

I'd really like a Robinson Arms (?) "AR47" lower - takes AK mags, uses AR uppers. Fat chance the way the clock is ticking...

I read it as you know other source(s) for such uppers. Who is that? M&A are soldout. Model1sales got a bad rep. on this board.... by the way is it deserved?
BTW what is USA 'conversion' magazine?

A conversion magazine had AR15 upper body with a 30rd AK mag affixed to its bottom. Somehow these were legal. They were sold in the mid 1990s. Most USA mags were crap, but these seemed to work far better than the Colt factory 7.62x39 mags.

don't know why they are called "conversion mags" but they are. they are also called "frankenmags." they are the best USA magazines product out there, in fact, they are the only 7.62x39 30-rd mag that reliably works in ARs.

why would they not have been legal to produce (besides being u-gly)? AFAIK they were made before 1994.

Good, wasn't sure. I too had heard that was the only USA mag worth having.

Conversion/welding up of them after 9/94 might've been problematic because there was some sort of ATF hulaballoo about not destroying function of orig magazine.

Michaels Machines manufacturers the real AR47, but it isn't an AR15 or AK47 series rifle, so I don't think it would fall under our current loophole.

How the heck can you affix a fixed mag to it? It seems tricky.

I believe the .30-30 has slightly more energy at the muzzle, but due to old rounded bullet design it loses velocity rather quickly and the 7.62X39 has more energy past 100 yards.
