Revolvers, Revolvers, Revolvers,
some of the most beautiful guns in the world.
With some of the most beautiful grips in the world.
What makes them shine and sets them apart from the run of the mill, are the grips that the owners mix and match them with.
Here's my set of Sterling Silver
engraved grips on my S&W M15 nickel.
I'd love to see othes who love their guns and grips,
so if you've got it, show it!
BTW that's a $10,000 peso bill (that's almost $1,000 US)

I can honestly say you see something new every day. I have never seen Sterling silver handgun grips. Where would you get such a thing, it might be cool to have a set for a BBQ gun.

AEROSOAR

Where would you get them?

Well,,,, I'll give you a couple of choices,,,

#1. you lay in wait by a small trail near the Rio Grande, and wait for the local coyote and his mules to come by and charge him, import duty.

or,

#2. eBay

your choice!

Someone asked me how I like my Ruger GP100. For the benefit of all Calguns, I will answer the questions here, but keep his name anonymous in case he doesn't want the whole world to know who just got a 4" GP100 as well.

how do you like your ruger gp 100? just dros'ed mine today:D .357 mag, 4 inch barrel, stainless steel. Ever gone hunting with it? what loads do you like to shoot with it?

Hi - and congrats on your 4 incher - :)

I love mine.

The trigger isn't as fine as other "finer" revolvers out there, such as a S&W 686, or a Colt Python, but I don't think Ruger's were made from the factory with the intention of having "fine" triggers. Mine is good enough to allow me to hold 1 hole groups at a whopping 10 yards - ok, my skills are lacking, but in the hands of a skilled shooter, I am sure that at 25 yards, you could easily stay within an inch grouping. Just a guess.

The finish is the matte stainless, and it's great. It cleans up really well and always looks good. It doesn't reflect light like a high gloss stainless finish might, so it doesn't exactly scream "I'm here! Come kill me!" I personally like the stainless because it's easy to take care of and I don't worry if it gets moisture in the field. Also, fingerprints don't take a "set" as they might on a blued gun.

The grips are factory and are comfortable enough to handle hotter .357 mag loads.

I typically run target loads through mine - never .38 spec ammo though because I hate the carbon ring that builds up in the cylinder if you shoot the shorter ammo. I also stay away from lead rounds because I hate dealing with the extra lead buildup. Tried this long ago and learned that the forcing cone really accumulates lead deposits - it was a big pain to clean this out. I'm the kind of shooter who loves keeping the guns meticulously clean, so it bothered me to know that lead was building up around there. Today, it's all lighter target loads with plated bullets, or medium loads also with the same. I seldom shoot full .357 mag loads, but I have before, and the gun is still very easy to control.

Haven't done any hunting with it, ever - probably won't, as I have not yet gotten into any sort of hunting. Wouldn't mind blasting a squirrel with it, though. Too bad seagulls are protected species.

I don't ever plan on getting rid of it. It was a great find and a great buy, and I'd buy it all over again if I had a time machine to take me back to that day.

Yeah, bummer that they are. Been out fishing on the high seas a couple of times and man, wish I had a 12 gauge with 6.5 shot! The # of gulls that follow the boat back in is simply amazing. Since they are a federally protected species, they have been allowed to multiply like there's no tomorrow, and as a result, I believe there is a population problem.

I think if you go offshore outside of the US territorial waters, you can shoot at them all you want. But I've never tried this, so take this for what it's worth (merely my conjecture).

ArmedWolf
04-15-2006, 11:24 PM
Nope, not on the List, The Mateba is an Autmatic Revolver, the barrel mounted low for better accuracy and control, and the action on top cycles the cylinder and recocks the hammer, it comes in .357, .44, and 454 casule, no lower cause it won't work the gun. And comes from 3inch to 8inch, blued, or Nickle.

http://www.desertdave.smugmug.com/photos/64715819-M.jpg

The .44 is great for 50 yard iron sight shooting. It's fun practice to shoot it back to back with the .22 to see if I'm anticipating recoil at all. The .22 is the older 3 pin design, and just feels so tight, I love it. The .22 is so accurate and fun to shoot it usually accompanies me on most plinking expeditions :D

I got this out today, my Mom's gun that she has had for well over 20 years, she it through NRA training with my dad and well, she said she never cleaned it, and my dad never did, so it sat for 20 years put away, today I got it and WOW, poor thing, cylinder was hard to turn, the hammer was sticky, everything so corroded, the barrel was scary inside, so I took off the cylinder and the grips and went at it for about an hour, scrubbing and brushing, then finished with cleaning the barrel, and the gun was a pale nickle, not reflective, dunno how it was back then, but I got it to shine nicely. the emblems in the grips were no even readable, just greenish black spots, after cleaning them they turned out a nice silver and gold S&W logo, but yeah, all cleaned and oiled and put into a soft case now.

New (to me) Ruger Single-Six in .22lr

I know it was originally purchased in 1974, and it's the old, 3-screw model. If anyone could use the serial number to get more info about it, please let me know.

I got it last Friday, and took it to the range on Saturday, putting about 250 round through it, and it is very nice! I was getting something like 1.5" groups at 7 yards, standing, offhand, after standing in the sun for 4 hours.

My first revolver. :D

Thought I'd add a couple of my Smolts to the mix. The stainless was built on a 66, the blued on an older Model 15. Both have super smooth actions and are super accurate.

Here's my Brazilian 1917. The exterior is pitted, the gun reblued, but the interior is immaculate. A very accurate piece.

Colt Officer's model heavy barrel from the 30's, paid $150 for it, it is amazingly accurate.

My favorite handgun that I've ever shot, a .357 Ruger GP-100 4" SS. I'm more accurate with this than anything else I've handled. It's absolutely begging for some fire optic sights, though. A black blade with a black rear sight leaves something to be desired.

How about a 624 with some homemade cocobolo

I've never seen grips attached with a wood screw - does it just screw into a predrilled hole?
