Sure itís not American made, itís made in Serbia, but it at least has the Remington stamp on it, so I could say I finally own a Remington rifle!

But anyway, I guess Remington decided to discontinue this model, so when I saw this at my local gun shop, I HAD TO BUY IT!

This is the Remington Model Five .22 LR Bolt Action Rifle. It has a great Walnut stock (which I already dinged and gougedÖheh), 5 round magazine, 22 inch barrel with iron sights, has double extractors on the bolt, and is pretty darn accurate at 50 yards.

Anybody else have one of these? What's your experience with them? Could anybody sell me any of their spare magazines? What should be my next bolt action rimfire...CZ, Marlin, Remington, Ruger, Mossberg? thanks! :)

yeah...right!? they are very similar looking! that's another reason why i bought this model, because it looked like the Remington 700 BDL.

I could probably afford a BDL, but i don't think i could afford shooting 30-06 ammo, especially since all i really do is target shooting and plinking and i also don't reload. Hence, i bought the .22.

best of luck with your new 700...i'll get one those one day too

Mine was sold prior to Remington having taken over the importing from Serbia. They're all built by a Serbian manufacturer named Zastava.
Mine is a Charles Daly Superior II - the metalwork is outstanding but, the oil finished, muddy looking stock was an obvious project.
I completely stripped, stained, & refinished the wood using eight coats of tung oil. Came out pretty nice.
Great shooter, very accurate, light enuf for a field rifle, and she's pretty too!

Don't know why but I have always liked the look and mechanics of bolt action rifles, even though i don't own one. A little to much work for me in a .22 caliber rifle but they still look cool.
