Anyone up for a meet at project 2000? Didn't the UCSD gun club have a meet there not too long back? A calguns meet would be awesome and we could all chip in a bit to reserve the space.

Anyone else up for that?

I'd be there now if I hadn't been abducted by ruffians and forced to knock back assorted birthday beverages.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

What part are you missing? There are little baggies of springs and detents stashed from Otay to Eureka. Somebody will have one.

I'm just missing the magazine catch. I haven't been able to assemble anything since I can't get the BB on without out it.

I contacted the place I got it from and they should be sending a replacement. :D

To be honest ,at this point I am a bit dissappointed. There were 72 people who chimed in on this roll call. CalGuns has a booth at the Del Mar Gun Show next weekend and we don't have enough people to man it. A lot of people say how much they want to help the 2A effort. Well, NOW is the time for YOU to step up to the table and help .

I'm in for both days, in fact I had to re-arrange my schedule to be available for Friday as well (though we need to sync up for Friday, bplvr, as I'm going to be busy until the late afternoon) .

Folks, it is a fun time and you'll have a chance to look around before the general public. Plus, with enough booth help, you'll have plenty of opportunity to do so at your leisure, rather than rushing through.

It's a great feeling to be able to help out, talk to people and reduce the FUD that exists about RKBA and CA-specific gun issues as well as helping to ensure that the many new EBR owners out there stay legal!

Come on down and join us, you'll have a great time - and likely learn something new as well.

Special skills?

1.) Mobile Notary services, I'll give good discounts to anybody in the area. Not sure how useful that is to anybody on here... but I do it. Maybe I should advertise will work for ammo?

2.) Computer technician/consultant. I do a lot of house calls for simple stuff [although I hate it]. Also I help people address issues and potential issues on home based as well was businesses.

3.) CD/DVD duplication and media transfer. A lot of my business is based on small businesses that need fast turn around for their product DVDs. I've worked with small local artists that need competitive pricing as most places won't touch their work unless they order 1000's of CDs at a time. I don't do a lot of video editing but I can do the basics. With what I focus my business on it isn't profitable/realistic to learn more than basic editing. Splicing, cutting and basic audio type of stuff. E.g. a customer shoots a long video and needs it spliced into a sequence or get rid of the outtakes. I do a lot of media transfers as well. Mainly people who have old VHS tapes and want it transfered to DVD. Also do VHS-C, and other camcorder based media. Tape media doesn't last forever, and a lot of people don't have the equipment to play it anymore.

4.) I have access to digital presses and can give good turn around and competitive pricing on normal sized print. Think 8.5x11, 11x17, and 12x18 [typically used for full bleed 11x17].

Once A Marine
06-03-2010, 4:28 AM
Hi William. Project 2000 (http://www.p2krange.com) is perfect for zeroing your AR. 25, 50 and 100yd indoor ranges. It's not far from you.

If you want/need to shoot further, then I'd recommend South Bay Rod and Gun Club (http://www.sbrgc.org), which has 50, 100, 200, and 300 yard outdoor rifle ranges. It's a bit further out in Dulzura, but not a bad drive.

As to ammo, the centerfire rifle forum and/or the ammo and reloading forum would be better spots to ask your question. Search is your friend too - there are years worth of good data buried in these forums - be liberal with your use of search!

What is your main intent for the AR - plinking, target shooting, home defense, hunting? Also, what is the twist rate on your barrel - that will limit bullet weight/size. Also, the chambering of your barrel will dictate if you'll use 5.56mm or .223 caliber (or if you can use both).

Your standard, mk1 mod0 5.56 type rounds - the 55gr FMJ and 62gr FMJ w/steel penetrator will work in just about anything, and will be the least expensive options. For home defense and target shooting, you might want match grade open tip bullets at a heavier weight (weight will depend on the twist rate of the barrel). For hunting, you might want open tip bullets or varmint type bullets depending on what you are hunting. I'd recommend zeroing based on the appropriate ammo for your primary intent.

Hello guys. Thought I'd let you know that a bay area transplant just moved into Barrio Logan (in San Diego).

I've done IT for ages. Just starting to get out of it with a community idea that a friend and I are starting. Trying for something of a more sustainable urban living. Just started it off so we'll see how that goes.

I have a multitude of skills. Before going into IT after high school I pretty much grew up off the grid on various farms in the south. I'm great with a multitude of skills that required though they have rusted in the 14 years I haven't lived on a farm.

I'm a very quick learner, and tend to pay attention. There's not much that I cannot do if I sit down and learn about it. Oddly enough I have a degree in audio engineering as well.

I do have a mostly built ak pistol from a receiver flat. Just haven't had the time to finish it. Have been getting ready to buy some tools for various projects, and a press will probably be one of them. Maybe even a jig kit.

Hai guyz, pullnshoot25 here. I am in Escondido/La Jolla/PB, depending on the time of week (or month...)

You all know my deal.

Let's get something going at P2K.

Personally I doubt if I will ever step foot in the pistol range area again ..every 30 minutes we were made to stop shooting, clear the weapons and exit the range, hang out for 10 minutes before being allowed back in to resume shooting ...If you don't mind laying all your weapons on footstools or the floor then this is the place for you !!! I'm assuming we had to clear the range to allow the Ventilation system to clear the air in the range ...

The 'stand down every 30 minutes' thing at P2K appears to be a temporary arrangement, until they complete the hard walls separating the pistol and 100 yard rifle range.

It is irritating, but since there is a chance of ricochets and/or crossfire between ranges, it is needed to allow the rifle shooters to reset targets every 30 minutes.

I've only been there once, but the ability to shoot 100 yds indoors - especially in the summer - is really nice. Just wish the range was not so far from me!

I like to shoot at Iron Sites in Oceanside, especially on Thursday nights for the "steel" matches, which include pistol and sometimes shotguns. It's a pretty far drive from Mission Valley though.

It's tough to beat South Bay Rod & Gun for rifle shooting, even if it takes the good part of an hour to get there. 300 yard range.

San Diego Tactical Shooters shoot IDPA once a month in Escondido, which is well worth it for those interested in brushing up their handgun skills. (an AWD vehicle is recommended, as the shooting spot is in BFE down a long forgotten County road.)

Let me know if you interested in trying to get together for one of these events. I can "scout/guide", as I have been there, done that.

Look at the posts in this forum. How about more forum info? The main thing seems to be to ask people to say hello, but then what? What about making it more accessible/relevant to SD regional posts? Limited # of people start threads (mostly by out of region Mods). Tons read them. You're not going to solicit support by bashing everyone with your "hello" post.

You can say the same as me, complain, etc., and "what are you doing to change anything?" OK. What else can we do besides staff a few shows? What info is there for people representing for CGN (and possibly not CGF) at these shows? Do they know the difference? I didn't until last week (thanks to Brandon/Wildhawker). Can we solicit separate funds and should we? How about a weekly/weekend range/match shoot? How about more support for these random UCSD shooting/training events? Is there a SD agenda? How can we help from here on out ( ie more than show up on sat/sun at some beef jerky/swap meet stc )?

Vista (North County) here...new member checking in. It would be nice if we could get a group going in North County to do some shooting and exchange information about our sport.

Hello from Chula Vista

I used to shoot a lot more when I lived in the boonies years ago.

Now I'm getting into shooting again. Both for sporting reasons and for environmental reasons.

I found this site recently while researching California gun laws after being denied my first choice picks of several run of the mill non extreme gun models at the local gun shops.

Pacific Beach, new member. In the Navy Seabees, moved from Mississippi. Got introduced into this site for selling some of my safe queens. Would definetely be into trap shooting or IDPA/IPSC stuff.

I'm reaching out to other members in the San Diego community. I have an annual membership at the American Shooting Range in Kearney Mesa and generally get 100+ rounds down range every week with my pistols and shotgun. I am also looking to join an outdoor range to shoot tactical shotgun and long rifle. Any recommendations are much appreciated.

Cheers,

KV Blues
