Any recommendations for M1 Garand gunsmith work? I have a 30-06 I want to make into a 308. Thanks

Anyone knows of a gunsmith in SOCAL?

What do you need done?

You could try Grunning Precision. Jim Grunning did some basic work on a friend's Garand.

yeah, and he put a barrel on an M14-type for me, not too happy with what happened, I won't be going back.

Mine is currently undergoing that same surgery at Bain and Davis in San Gabriel. Will post results as soon as I get it out to shoot.

I wanted to find a local smith too, but finally gave up and resorted to sending yet another Garand or M1A off to another state for work. You'd think with all the people in L.A. there would be a decent smith around here that specializes in Garands and 14s. I gave up on Gruning, they would never answer the phone and I got tired of calling.

So far I've used Derrick Martin and Arrington Accuracy, both out of Arizona to great satisfaction.
