View Full Version : demilled barrel ?

Is there a way to render a rifle barrel unusable, so that even if it was say <16" long, no chance of CP of SBR due to the barrel being demilled? Say if the end of the barrel was sheared or pinched off? Just curious, TIA

Weld the chamber and Muzzle closed with a steel rod down the pipe.

drilling a big hole in the chamber usually does it.

Either that or a full length cut from the throat to the rifling.

I was hoping having the muzzle pinched/smashed shut would be good. Sounds like there is a few different ways to go here. Thanks

We have a demilled shotgun barrel here. We had our foundry fill it with molten zinc before cutting it down to 14". I called the local ATF office about this and they gave me the suggestion.

Be careful if you're creating a "display gun" as CA has some oddball rules about manufacturing and/or displaying "imitation firearms."

See CA Penal Code Sections 12550 -12556.
