I got my print out from CALDOJ of firearms registered to me.

The good news: Every registered AW is correctly registered to me.

The bad news: One Beretta handgun was registered with the right caliber and model number but wrong manufacturer. someone, probably the FFL, entered the wrong info when DROsd.

Other surprises: The handguns are not registered by their common names. For example my Ruger 22/45 is a "P512" which i think is the catalog SKU number. My Springfield Milspec 1911 is registered as a "PB9108L." Additionally every handgun i ever sold via PPT still shows on my doj report.

Okay i found the form but it asks for specific info about who and when you sold it. I have not retained that info over the years. So i guess there is no popint in submitting the forms.

I would have never known the registered the handguns using SKU numbers instead of common model numbers if i had not asks for my AFS report.

Boy that sure would be helpful for a dealer reading the mother fing safe list. The list of handguns approved for sale is darn confusing. SKUs would make it so much easier.

Problem is the SKU numbers do not actually appear on the firearm anywhere. For example my Ruger 22/45 actually has "22/45" on the left side of the gun as the model number. It doesnt say P512 on it anywhere. So if a police officer were to run a Ruger 22/45 he would get no match.

I just used it in early December 2009.

Within a few days of mailing it I received an acknowledgement from CalDOJ.

Wow, does it look bad if you "lost" your firearm? Will an investigation be launched?

There is no ability in the AFS (Automated Firearms System) to run firearms based on model numbers or names. You can run either a check based on a specific serial number or on a person by name.

So when a cop runs a firearm, not a person, no model number is entered? Its just for example Glock 9mm serial number.... not glock 19 or Glock 17?

Note that that thread is from early last year. Since then, CADOJ has created a new NLIP form and is currently hosting it on their website.

Does the AFS record show the S/N?

What other info. is listed? Dealer? Address on CDL at that time?

Yes, the the S/N is listed in the AFS, wouldn't make for a very good registration program if they didn't;)

Anyways, look here for a sample page from one guy's AFS request, http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?p=769441

Hmm, interesting. I think I'll see what they have me on file for. I've done some PPT in the last couple years, I'd hope those are on there.
