I have done a search on the forum for this question and can't seem to find it. The question is "How do you legally get your California legal AR back once it has been confiscated by LEO"? Just curious, any inputs will be greatly appreciated...

If this is a hypothetical, we'll need some additional info (generally, please search for 'LEGR (http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/legrinfo.php)').

If this relates to a real situation, do not post any further information and contact CGF immediately (800-556-2109).

If that ever happens, getting your gun back will probably be the least of your worries. Assuming you kept everything legal at all times, you would contact the CalGuns Foundation after you have been bailed out of jail and they would hopefully asist you in your defense and recovery of property.

Actual arrests for AW charges have become very rare in the last 12 months. The few run ins on "AWs" have been siezed firearms where the individual was released.

If it happens to you, email or call CGF. Someone will get in touch with you shortly. Please tell us generally where it happened as it helps us route to the right legal folks. We'll call you back and then generally engage the LEA or the DA. So far that's been all that's necessary. Then you file an LEGR with DOJ, wait 30-45 days, and take that to the LEA to pick up your firearm.
