View Full Version : Anyone else unable to stay 'logged in'?

Since yesterday I have been getting logged out of CGN whenever I close the browser tab or browser session that I had CGN opened in. I set the check-box to keep me logged in, but every time I open a new browser or tab and browse to CalGuns I am logged back out.
I've noticed this on two separate computers. I'm running latest version of Firefox on both.
Anyone else having similar issues or is it just me?

Nope, running the latest FF myself.
Have you restarted your comp since?

OP: No, it's not just you. There's some sort of problem with Firefox where the browser will not retain cookies for some reason. Sometimes this will boot me out of a session when I open a thread in a new tab, sometimes not. I always get logged off if I navigate to another sit however. It is fixable, however, do a google search and the fix is listed out there, updating the browser version alone won't help.

Just you my friend, CGN was demanded by the Government to have rules that closely relates to TSO, so, you were the random person selected. ;) jk.

What's this "close the browser tab or browser session" you speak of? ;)

I got logged out yesterday on both IE and FF after an 'on the fly' vBulletin patch application.

I haven't had any problems on 3 different computers with getting logged off since the initial time.

I'm running IE8 and FF 3.0.1.1

Just happened again. I've had FF opened since I got in this morning and was (obviously) logged in earlier. I closed the tab that CGN was opened in and did some work stuff for a bit.
I then saw that there had been a reply to this thread in my 'email notifications' folder so I opened the email and center clicked the link to the thread to open it in a new tab, and I was not logged in.
This has been my forum browsing behavior for years, so I know I'm not doing anything differently and am just trying to figure out if its a FF issue or possibly an issue with the boards and/or the cookies it sets for user sessions.

Like I said bro, it's Firefox. Do a google search. There's a problem retaining cookies.

No issue here, I'm using the most recent version of Firefox. Check your privacy settings. Firefox might be deleting cookies when you close the session.

I think Kestryll identified it - it seems to be browser-independent, so the vBulletin upgrade is the likely culprit. I opened the site yesterday and found I was was logged off once, then have stayed logged in since then.

I don't know what changed, but I keep getting logged out.
I have to log back in at least 3-5 times a day now.

Is anyone else having problems like this?

Before the last few days, I probably have not had to re-login in almost 3 months.

no issues here

maybe the fact I am on a Mac is the key :)

And you're remembering to click "Remember Me" when you log in? It's defaulting to "off".
I got logged off 2 days ago, but I've been fine since.

That's what happens when you hit 20k posts. Kestryll puts in a script to slow you down!

Why would I look in OT?
I checked the announcements subforum and there was nothing there.
The next most obvious place is technology...

OT is for losers.

I'm using Ie 7 and have had to login at least 6-7 times today so far.

I think it's the Cal Guns software.

I'm using IE8 and Cal Guns has been logging me off and I have to keep on logging back on.

The other boards I frequent don't have this problem. They keep me logged on. I don't have to enter my PW when I log on after logging off.

...hence why I think its a Cal Guns problem.

Religious Shooter

I don't know why, but with IE8 I fixed my problem by specifically allowing www.calguns.net to have cookies.

Tools=>Privacy=>Sites

I entered calguns.net and set it to "Always Allow".

Haven't had any problems staying logged in, but my "threads read" gets screwed up all the time.

I'll go to my subscribed threads and have a full page of unread threads from, say 4am.

Wife will call me away for something, and I'll come back in 1/2 hour, refresh the screen, and BOOM... it's down to 4 new threads, oldest one at 10:00

And sometimes it "farts" the other direction too.
I'll go through all of my subscribed threads, close the browser, and when I come back in an hour, it'll be like I haven't been logged in for 6 hours, showing threads than I was the last post as if they are "new unread".
