An editorial in the WSJ demolishes root cause theory of crime that was so popular from the 60s onward. In spite of the recession and job losses, crime continues to decline.

The author rightfully credits higher incarceration rates but fails to mention the increase in gun ownership and concealed carry.

Still, a continuing drop in crime will certainly reduce the public antipathy to guns and the knee-jerk embrace of gun control as a solution to crime will sound even weaker.

The author is a New Yorker. I couldn't find her email address but here is her bio:

So how would you go about persuading Heather to include guns when she next writes on this subject?

Most of the crime drop we've been is a result of the legalization of abortion.
