Anyone in CA have any luck on buying one of these? I know on the CA DOJ list, the PX9105ML is approved, and is the same weapon. From what I've read, the P on the end of the model number may stand for package, as in the kit the Springfield XD's come with, holsters and such.

Yea, the P means nothing. They are on the list. I was lucky enough to find one here on Calguns for a really good deal. I'm in love with it. If you can find one, get it you won't be disappointed.

I have one, it's my favorite gun in my collection. Good luck finding one, mine was like finding the Ark of the Covenant. When Bud's has them in stock they're a great price.

I have the lightweight full size variation and it is hands down the best 1911 I own. Also SA has the best customer service I have seen so far in the firearms industry.

Well, you can reserve one now and/or wait. It's pretty rare to see them at that price though. Plus you'll be paying a transfer fee + tax (at least $175 combined).

Well Zog I want to personally thank you for bumping this thread. If you had started a new one the "beat a dead horse" or "use the search feature" people would have popped up. Freakin hall monitors I swear..

Anywho, this makes me wonder if I should put off the purchase of the TRP Operator for this one. No hassles getting the half rail. Hmmmm

Ive never paid tax on an internet purchase. 50 for the transfer and 25 for DROS is it. I paid 1125 OTD for mine.

You're supposed to pay tax unless you're purchasing from a private individual. Most FFL's are collecting this now rather than expecting you to do it on your own.

I pay tax on my own, the dealer is not obligated to collect tax and if most dealers are collecting it now its news to me.

ETA: From the three thread i have read you have been on all of them saying the same thing. I was always under the impression that the dealer was not obligated to charge tax it was up to the buyer to pay the tax properly.

Pretty sure there is not, like all Loaded models. The other non-TRP versions of the operator do not have it (see pics in the SA catalog). Also then you would not need the (partial) wraparound grips.

Although they routinely sell from buds, when available, for a hair over $1000. The extra $300 tends to just be for the impatient.

These are great guns. My advice is be patient with buds, and check it regularly. Don't pay over $1100 for one, unless money is not an issue. At $1100 you can add only $200 more and get a Stainless TRP from buds.

There is one NIB on GB with a "Buy It Now" price of $1179. The seller does not indicated unwillingness to ship to CA. $35 for 2nd shipping plus transfer fee at FFL puts it over $1100 but not by too much. It all depends on how patient one can be.

Got mine shipped in from Az last year. I ended up getting Springfield to call my FFL and explain that the "P" on the end did not modify the pistol at all (making it Ca approved). Even with as much as I love my Operator, I wish I would have just spent the couple hundred more at the time and found a TRP Operator. Would have save a bundle of cash and a trip to the custom shop.

cmace22
10-08-2010, 12:43 PM
The adjustable sights on the TRP and 400 more dollars was a turn off for me on the TRP. Im sending in my MCO to get the front strap checkered (25LPI) magwell blended and refinished (ionbond). It may cast more in the end, than a TRP, but I have exactly what I want.

I found that taking down ONE of my Mark IIIs is a lot easier that taking down a 1911 with a FLGR. Now the OTHER Mark III - my problem child - requires a home made pin guide and a mallet, something the 1911 does not need. So if your Mark III is a problem child, I feel your pain.

zoglog
10-09-2010, 10:03 PM
hah, it's a bit of a problem child,

tookdown the MC operator yesterday. As usual made some stupid misteps but got it up and about. Currently my Mark III hunter requires the malleting since it's new, but I hear that goes away over time.

The biggest pain for the 1911 that I saw was the re-assembly requires you to push down that pin when re-attaching the takedown lever/slide stop.

You should be able to reinstall the slide stop without having to manipulate the plunger. Should just click in.

When you install it next time; look at the top of the slide stop. See that rounded edge? The one that fits into/past the slide crenelation. Use that rounded edge, put it under the detent and push up and down at the same time. It should roll through the detent and click right in.

Also, on your 2nd pic, is it just lighting or are there black strips on your frame right below the slide? Whats going on there?

The strip pattern above the beavertail is probably due to remoil and the reflection of the 220 stainless
