Alright boys and girls. I bought my first OLL (LRB Arms lower) ! Now comes the 10 day lock up.

This has to do with the CA approved lock requirement. The store I bought the lower in has safes for sale like this one. http://www.amazon.com/Gunvault-Mini-Vault-GV1000C-DLX-Deluxe/dp/B002HOLG2I/ref=tag_dpp_lp_edpp_img_ex

If I were to buy that safe at the store on the day I pick up the lower, would I be able to skip the buying of the CA lock through the safe form thing or would that not work. Thanks!

Law says (d) The sale or transfer of a firearm shall be exempt from
subdivision (a) if both of the following apply:
(1) The purchaser or transferee owns a gun safe that meets the
standards set forth in Section 12088.2. Gun safes shall not be
required to be tested, and therefore may meet the standards
without appearing on the Department of Justice roster.
(2) The purchaser or transferee presents an original receipt
for purchase of the gun safe, or other proof of purchase or
ownership of the gun safe as authorized by the Attorney
General, to the firearms dealer. The dealer shall maintain a
copy of this receipt or proof of purchase with the dealers'
record of sales of firearms.
If the gun fits in the safe, the safe should qualify - since an FFL or anyone else is not permitted to sell a non-standard-meeting safe.

So if the lower will fit, then it's good? Or does it have to be for the "complete" rifle?

Maybe I own a handgun and want to use that safe to store it anyway? Why buy both the lock for the OLL and a safe to store my handgun when I can use the safe for both? Does that make sense? Dont roll your internet eyes at me :)

Whoa...slow down tiger, I was talking about having to lock up the lower.

Makes tons of sense eh?

Those rolleyes better for ya? ;)

Wow, I totally misinterpreted that. I thought you meant, "Why was this guy buying a $100 safe just to get out of buying a 10 dollar lock?" I apologize. Darn internets.
