I'm looking for a new rifle chambered for the 17HMR. I'd like for it to be in a rifle that uses a Falling Block action like EA Brown rifles (EABCO) and Ruger's No. 1. EABCO's M97 rifle is too expensive at $1200 plus options and I don't even think Ruger makes the No. 1 in a 17HMR.... Anyone have any idea who makes one? If I can't find one, then I'll probably get a bolt action from Marlin or Ruger.

I'm not sure who makes one as you described. However, I did aquire a brand new never been fired Savage in 17HMR. I was surprised how small the gun is and it has a synthetic stock with a Leupold scope on it. I tried it day before yesterday and it knocked some jack rabbits on their *****e$! Really quick kill with that round.

I love that little gun.

Oh, and since you mentioned Marlin and Ruger bolt-actions... The Marlin 917 is ridiculously accurate. 0.3" groups at 50 yards is easy. When you consider that they can be had for under $200 that makes it even better.

The Winchester is going to be around $800.

Thanks Matt-man.... The Winchester was really not my "cup of tea", but thanks for the lead. Looks like I will be going the bolt action route. The Ruger's price seems to be pretty high so I'm going the Marlin route for the time being.

I love my Marlin as well. Of course I never get to shoot it because the guys I hunt with are always having fun with it.:D
