If you inherit a gun and don't know if it was ever registered is there anything you could do to get the gun legally in your name? Since the previous owner is not here any more how do you complete the transfer if they were registered

I'd like to know this as well for unregistered inherited firearms.

doesn't matter if they were unregistered.
It is not illegal to possess an unregistered firearm in CA (except for AWs and NFA stuff).
just follow the rules when transfering the firearms to the recipient, doing a oplaw if a handgun between granparent, parent, child or grandchild, and having the executer do a PPT if the firearm is going to someone other than grandparetn, parent, child, or grandchild.

Is there a time limit to transfer and what about on list or off list handguns?
