View Full Version : IMPORTANT SERVICE - Upload Your DOJ Letters onto the forum

If you have mailed the DOJ about a particular lower and received a response, it would be fantastic if you could upload them and post them here.
This "evidence" will be invaluable in convincing our local FFL's who are still on the fence about receiving these lowers because many FFL's are demanding that they have a letter mentioning a particular lower in order to receive it (YES, I KNOW THEY DON'T NEED IT, but that is what they want)

Blank out your personal information, and post them here so we can get an array of all the non-list manufacturer lowers that they have approved in letters to people. This will let us open the floodgates and get our local FFLs in on this so TenPercent can ship the lowers to them or so they can receive them from out of state. Make sure to get the entire letter scanned including letterhead and footer.
All you have to do is scan them into your computer (need a scanner of course) and then upload them as a JPEG or PDF, etc.
If you have a letter and need information on how to upload it, send me an email or PM me.

WE ALL APPRECIATE IT.

Most FFLs I've talked to not only require a letter from the DOJ but one that is both (1) an original copy and (2) one that has your current name and address on it.

Yes harsh, but innovators and pioneers have always been met with resistance in the past.

I have spoken with two different ones that simply want a DOJ letter (regardless of whose name is on it) with a particular manufacturers name on it before they will import it...but they are all different.

I got lost in the multiple threads on this but has anyone posted a copy of the letter they sent TO the DOJ? Not what they GOT BACK.
I would rather base my letter off of one that was sent in and approved instead of reinventing the wheel. Perhaps a template could be created for those interested? Thanks!

Word is it can take up to (6) six weeks to get a reply in writing fellas AND that's if the DOJ considers you worthy

All this hype will be played out by the time you get your letter

Can you guys locate and post the letters that have already been posted somewhere on this site so they are in one place? I know a JP letter was posted, and apparently there is a Stag letter floating around here as well. If you know where they are, post them in this thread and perhaps the admin will make a sticky with all the letters consolidated.

Who owns the DSA ZM4 letter? I or Mr331 could use a clean copy of it (without the address and name of the owner). There is an FFL in the Sac area that will probably be on board ordering the DSA's as soon as they have a letter in hand. Since Mr331's response could be a month out, I would like to get the ball rolling on this sooner.

Thanks.

Begs to be mentioned with this idea...

Well-established legality: Letters from either DOJ or ATF are NOT blanket, universal permissory letters, but are valid protection only for the addressee of such letters. Posting such letters is fine for reference purposes, but do not make the mistake of acting on ideas or concepts in a letter that is not addressed to you. Courts have upheld that only the parties involved in the correspondance know the full breadth and context of what is being discussed and as such only the addressee can claim legal protection in the event of a miscommunication or mistake in interpretation. I.E. ATF/DOJ didn't tell YOU it was okay to undertake a certain action, they told the addressee. And because letters do not necessarily incorporate or mention follow-up phone calls or other related correspondance, it is impossible to determine context, especially the legal kind.

Actually, then the letters for vulcan, bushmaster, and fab-ten are only good for them, we better call them up and let them know that they might be breaking ther law.
