I am thinking of ordering a Finnish M39 rifle in 7.62x54r from Wholesale Guns.

http://www.gunsnammo.com/

The site says:

"The Following Antique Rifles have Receiver Dates of 1898 or before and are considered Antiques by the Gun Control Act of 1968, Therefore can be sold to anyone over 21 years with a fax or e-mail copy of a current drivers license and who represents by the purchase of a rifle that they are not an Illegal alien, fugitive from justice, illegal drug user, or a convicted felon. No shipments to New Jersey, New York City or the District Of Columbia.

ANTIQUE RECEIVERS ARE THE SAME AS POST 1898 RECEIVERS IN STRENGTH."

Is this ok in California?

Yes, perfectly legal even in California.

AIM Surplus just got in a bunch of Finn Mosin-Nagants and they are listing which ones are antiques. Just another option.

I bought one of the pre 1898 reciever M39s' from WG&A myself last year.
As soon as I get pics of it it'll be up on the for sale board to fund a SU16CA.
Cool company to work with and no complaints here.
