OK here it is in all its glory::eek:

Ok so its not complete but it will be soon. NOTE: this has a fixed 10rd mag that cannot be removed. You need tools for that.:D

How the HELL do you load that thing?

who pressed your trunion on your barrel?

Looks very cool but how in the heck are you going to load it by the way????:D

Charliegone

Well, the rifle is far from complete. The trunion to receiver and cocking tube as well are not welded yet. Thats all it needs plus some parkerizing.:D Actually, its not that hard to load as I thought! You can load it from the ejec port, just it will require gloves or something to keep the heat from burning my fingers when loading. The drawback is I can't use striper clips.:mad: One by one. Heck with a 10rd I can easily load 5 - 7 rds in it.

I wouldn't recommend my ffl. He was way to reluctant and I wouldn't want to do a transfer like this with him again. I would try Enterprise arms, they do ffl transfer for any receiver NOT on the list.:D Thats what they told me.

Well even though it might be a little weird loading it I gotta say kudos to you for trying!I think you might be the first one to even attempt such a thing so keep us posted on your progress or if you get a visit,lol.:eek:

So by this the G3/Cetme clone with fixed is CA legal? Please say yes.

Charliegone
12-06-2005, 7:49 PM
Yup. It is completely legal. It is just like the Enterprise or DSA fal that they sell. It has a fixed magazine, is not marked hk-91 so 100% legal as long as the fixed mag stays on (and will.) :D

Also, if I am correct, it cannot be a cetme receiver or hk-91 type. It has to be either a FA-91 (Federal arms receiver, but its aluminum and looks fugly), or PTR-91 (which is what I got, excellent specs exactly to original hk), or you can try Century g3 not the cetme(I've heard bad things about their receivers so..) OR Special Weapons SW3(doubt they would sell to you after I saw that they wouldn't sell mp5 clone receivers.)

So where did you get your receiver from? You can PM me if you want. Thank you sir!

Being that the action is somewhat similar to the FAL would it not be possible to design a "dust cover" and top loading port?

Charliegone
12-07-2005, 9:03 AM
No, you cannot because the bolt carrier runs on top.

I do not see how a PTR/HK a can be modified to load from the top like a FAL. The FAL has a recoil spring assembly behind the bolt carrier, not on top of it like the PTR/HK. The HK/PTR bolt carrier has an integral spring guide that runs directly over the magazine. See the linked diagram below for top view of the bolt carrier assembly.

wait, doesnt CA law define a bullet as a tool, so could you still have a (relatively) easily loaded mag? just have to use an extra round to pop out the magazine?

That's nice. Are FMP receivers (imported/portugal), SW-3 and Century legal? I was just curious. I did not see them on the list. Can anyone verify this. Including a Sprinfield SAR8 stamped receiver with a fixed mag before it enters California? Thanks

The Roberti-Roos ban says...

Hk-91, Hk-93, Hk-94, and PSG-1

You can get ANY clone of these above not named like those above. It can even be the same manufacturer such as the hk-41 (which is just like the hk-91). So yes FMP, sw-3 and century g3s are legal here as long as they have no sb23 features or if they don't qualify (like having a nondetachable magazine.)

Im waiting to send mine off to IGF I think, its too bad we cant just buy the PTR from JLD (Its a lot cheaper).

receiver=200 plus fees
kit=263
finding a guy to put her together=priceless, or should i say expensive.

FMP are legal. I have one and it's perfectly legal. Just don't make it a category 3 AW with both a removable magazine and pistol grip. Unlike Charlie, I decided to keep the regular magazine release and will cut off the pistol grip from a semiauto trigger group.

Partially correct. It cannot be a "CETME SPORTER". As the MARS CETME SPORTERS are named back in 89. It can however be a CETME, which came into the country sometime in the late 90's.

Where did you get the 2-position trigger group? I've been looking for one and only found SEF G-3 trigger groups that have been clipped and pinned.

I got a semi-auto navy trigger group from some guy online at sturmweger and the S-F metal one from GB. I got A REALLY good deal. 150.00 bucks for the complete trigger group and the complete bolt carrier.:D
