View Full Version : Your 10/22 .920 Barrel Floating?

I just installed a new heavy barrel onto my 10/22 and now laying it into a Boyd's stock. With a trial fit, the barrel makes contact with the stock... Is this OK or should I go ahead and get the Volquartsen pillar bedding kit? I have an understanding that this is OK, but point of impact will change if/when I remove and reinstall the action into the stock.

I used the original stock, hogged out to accomodate the new bull barrel, and I used the volks kit. I can slide a business card the entire length of the barrel and the rifle shoots great. I love it.

Well, it depends. I have a 10/22 with moded factory stock to fir bull barrel but I was lazy & did not free float the barrel but it shoots great. I'd say shoot your barrel/stock combo & see if it shoots well first.
Just my $0.02
