So I'm sitting here at work listening to the Boston Bruins hockey game over the internet when a Smith & Wesson gun commercial comes on the air during the break. Something I don't hear here in San Jose on the radio all that often (ok, NOT at all). Just thought it was odd I guess & worth posting.

So what was the nature of the ad? What were they promoting - what model(s), and how'd they do it?

It was kinda funny... they did it through a "firearms safety message".
They talk about themselves...
"We at Smith & Wesson are trying to promote gun safety..." "We at Smith & Wesson... blah blah We at Smith & Wesson..." and so on... "FOR MORE DETAILS, SEE YOUR LOCAL Smith & Wesson DEALER." ha! :)

That's kinda cool, though. I don't know if a lot of us are S&W fans given some of the prior company politics, but we could use more positive reinforcement messages like that around here.

During the Bruin's game, that's almost mainstream, go S&W!
Well I was listening to one of the FM stations when Turner's ran an ad, Para Warthog and Colt 1991 Govt 45 on sale. It was an obscure country music station, but it still caught me by surprise.
I haven't heard Turners advertise since they ran ads on the Stern show years ago, but maybe I just "tune out" commercials and haven't paid attention to them.

Did the radio ad actually use the word “gun” or “firearm”?
