This is the second time in just a few days that I've read of criminals using mace. I guess we'll have to impliment mace control laws along with background checks and ten-day waits, as we do with other legal commodities that criminals have learned to abuse.

Vacaville police are searching for a man who Maced officials at a shoe store on Wednesday and then ran off with a bunch of stolen goods.

The incident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. at Famous Footwear in the 1600 block of East Monte Vista Avenue. The suspect apparently was thwarted from stealing shoes and angrily left the store.

He returned as the manager was calling police and sprayed the manager and assistant manager with Mace, police said, then grabbed some merchandise and ran from the store. He was last seen in a silver-colored Toyota Camry with tinted windows.

The suspect was described as black, in his 20s, 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 8, skinny, wearing a black leather jacket, New York baseball cap and with a grill in teeth.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Vacaville Police Department at 449-5200.

Already is. Back in the day we would charge those who committed an assault with a chemical agent with 244PC. And this yayhoo using a weapon to further his shoplift turned the shoplift into an armed robbery.

And yes, I know you were being sarcastic. My point is for the system use the laws we have, lock the mofo up with two strikes served consecutively and call it good.
