I live in San Francisco and would like to order ammo before Prop H goes into effect, however I see that some sites wont ship to San Francisco such as polybag, but others do not list that they wont ship here. Is there a legal issue for them not to ship here or just a company policy. All the sites say know your local laws but I can't seem to find the info. PLEASE HELP
Has anybody else ordered the FN .308 from Sportmans Guide and is it better/cleaner that SA?

oops looks like Sportmans guide doesn't ship here either. Does anyone know a good place to go buy ammo in bay area?

Sad to say, the only workable solution I have to offer you is to move to another city.... or have the ammo delivered to a buddy who lives in another city. As long as that person is over 18 and not a convicted felon, he can receive ammo for you.

Try Natchez Shooter's supply.

Cheaper Than Dirt also stocks a lot of ammo.

If you have to buy it locally, Trader's Sport in San leandro advertises good prices. Ordering over the internet is way cheaper.

Sportsman's said that even if the billing zip is in SF I can't order and have it shipped to my work addy in San Jose. :(

That sucks. Seems almost wrong.

I also just tried to order some ammo (7.62x54r) from Sportsman's Guide. They e-mailed me and stated they could not ship to my Zip Code. I live in SF and never had a problem before with Sportsman's Guide shipping me ammo. My guess is because of Prop H passing, that C&R FFL holders in SF will start having problems getting someone to ship a C&R long arm to them and probably the same goes for a antique firearm

Try J&G Sales in Arizona for good mail order ammo deals. They ship to SF and shipping is faster and cheaper than the distributors back east.

Back when AIM Surplus stopped shipping ammo to SF they had no problem shipping to Daly City even though my billing address is in San Francisco. They might still be willing ship ammo to your work address in San Jose.

Also, you can always mail in a US Postal money order to pay for your order and have it shipped to your work address. With a money order you can use your work address as a billing address.

Call your Credit Card/Debit card issuer and have them add your work address. I currently have 3 addresses on 2 of my cards for this reason. The bill still comes to my home, but I can use my work, or my parent's house and it checks out fine when they run the card.
