If given the choice, which of the two would you decide and why?

Yeah, I'd kind of like an opinion one way or the other, though. I know they are both high quality rifles with similar platforms. Hence, my dillemma. :D

Ok, maybe this helps----I can get the LMT for around $1,400 plus fees. But, I can also get the DD XV for a little less (not much).

So, again.........which would you choose? Does price have much a factor?

I have read nothing but Good about both.

DD has the edge in price, so if that matters....

Both are excellent, I'd personally go with LMT because they've been producing rifles a bit longer than DD and LMT has a rock solid reputation for excellent fighting rifles.

Also doesn't a complete LMT defender 2000 come with a SOPMOD stock?

I'd get the DD for a number of reasons mostly because it's more Milspec than the LMT.

The greatest reason being that it has a hammer forged barrel which is pretty damn cool.

The more milspec features are that comes with an M16 BCG, Tapered FSB pins, it is finished under the FBS unlike the LMT, has double handguard shields comes with a heavy buffer for better reliability and costs less.

It costs a bit less plus I learned that Daniel Defense is offering a $250 BLACK RIFLE FUND GIFT CARD, when a rifle is purchased and to be used towards DD accessories! Or, is that offer only through certain distributors/dealers?

I know, for sure, you can get XV's for less than $1200. I've seen them under $1k, too.

You can find the DD Carbine (with rail, ctr, etc) for about that $1400 price point.

I like them both a lot, but given the current state of things, I'd choose DD.

oooh, tough choice. both are excellent rifles as you know. i'd go with LMT just because i've personally had great experience with their products. but DD is just about perfect as well. flip a coin?

I've seen DDXVs for less than $1K on Gunbroker. I got my DDM4 off GB, (Thanks Riflegear!). The $250 Black Fund Card is available on rifles purchased prior to 12/31/09.
I'd use the gift card for an Omega rail on that DDXV. And a hat. :D
