Rolling outta work here in SJ around noon Fri, swinging by to pick up GF. Realistically, will prob take a coupla hours to get out of greater Bay Area, with a bit of slowdown in Sacto metro area.

Likely roll into Reno - barring major traffic issues, or weather on I-80 - around 6ish PM. Though I would really like to cross the pass in daylight.

Will hit the show on Sat morning after sleep-in (long week!) and breakfast, prob 11+ AM. I'll be easy to spot at the show - tall dude, red short-sleeved dress shirt, khakis, boots, and a blue Smith & Wesson hat. Will also likely be there on Sun morning too.

Prob gonna try to hit Sportsman's Warehouse on the way out. GF & I also have to do our ritual stop at the petshop up near WalMart - they have ferrets & sugar gliders, which she loves to check out.

I'll be heading up Thrusday and staying at the hilton that night. Hit the show first thing Friday and be driving back home that afternoon. I'll try and leave some stuff for you guys :D

I really hope there is no snow going over the pass. Weather.com says it will be sunny. I'm taking the camaro and she does not do so well on ice :(

How’s the Reno show compare to Cow Palace? My friend told me it is 100 times better!

Is it worth the drive to go there (instead of staying over night)?

Too bad most of stuff we see in Reno – can’t bring back to CA. :(

COUGH......ahhhh yeah

I'm just going for bumper stickers or as Stevil put it, 30 count bumper sticker holders.

I have heard its night and day. I have never been to a show outside of this state but I have heard GREAT things.

I'm getting sick of all this cow palace gun show bashing. Has your friend even been to a cow palace show? The Big Reno show is only about 99 times better than the cow palace show. It is worth the drive especially if you have a c&r license. Even though there's a lot of stuff that's not legal for us. There's still a lot of things to buy.

There's no comparison. Once you go to a Reno show, you'll realize what we're missing out on - machine guns, real ARs, AKs, etc.
If you live in the Bay Area, I'd suggest staying at least one night there, as it is a rather long drive. Also, you gotta do some gambling and get drunk while you're over there, right?! :D

The biggest shock for a bay area resident going to the Reno Show ? No beef jerkey dealer in sight.

Hey Toby...

Well, not to be antisocial but Liz & I are prob gonna be doing a nice quiet "going out" dinner on Sat night (i..e, me not wearing my Smith & Wesson hat, and wearing the shiny dress boots instead of s**tkickers). Fri nite may be colliding w/some (nongun) friends.

But Sat morning breakfast/brunch works, and would love to meet Rascal as well.

As for XL650: right now it's in its corner in the garage; I have yet to acquire/setup a workbench. Various options are out there, some friends may have one to spare. I'll get there but given work - spinning out a new chip and software for it - plus some house chores, it likely won't be "up" until latter December when Liz is back east for family visit and my buddy Phil can help me get squared away on its setup. [I still gotta printout & read the manual and may buy the video just for giggles.]

In the meantime I am gonna order more primer tubes, gotta look for a primer tube filler (not Dillon's - too expensive, there are other buzzer-flippers out there, and don't wanna use pick up flip trays, too slow). I wanna be able to preload 1000 primers before a load run. If I could use RCBS primers-on-a-strip, that'd be cool, but I don't think Dillons can do this.

Need a 45LC carbide die set. (Dillon 45LC dies seem to use a tapered non-roll crimp, whereas RCBS' 45LC dies use roll crimp; thus Dillon dies may be better for longer 45LC case life though I wonder if bullet setback a problem in tube-fed Marlin/Winchester lever-action carbines). I need to get a good digital scale, and I am also gonna get a couple more powder dispsensers for each toolhead (why mess around?)

BTW - those dies I got w/the press - are they carbide? (I think so, haven't looked in detail). Just don't wanna mess w/case lube.

BuBye,

I dunno who you are. But I'd be careful saying stuff like that as your meaning is readily understandable. We do know there ARE antigunners (perhaps even antigun LEOs/DAs) reading these posts here.

It'd be real easy - only 1/2 hour or so - to find out who you are as there's no real privacy on internet.

Not trying to be Big Mommy, just a lot of folks don't realize they can't hide on the Net.

About setting up that 650. The documentation it comes with is pretty self explanitory. Good pics too. I think i too may have ordered the video but I don't think I actually ever watched it. Also, you don't need lube for carbide pistol dies but after using Hornady's One shot lube I'm a firm believer in it. It makes resizing require much less leverage and there is no need to clean the lube afterwards.

I know I'm a bit newer to the forum, but I was wondering who all here is going to be at the show this weekend? I'm mostly going to be there for accessories for my M-1s, etc and other goodness. Anyone going who has a Curio & Relics FL? I know.. I know, I SHOULD have one myself but haven't quite gotten to it yet.

I'm probably going to have to go alone, because my brother-in-law has this new girlfriend who's a time drain on him :( ! Anyhow I'll be wearing black cowboy boots, a red plaid cowboy shirt, and probably my leather cowboy hat as well. I'm 6 feet tall and fairly slim so I usually stand out in a crowd... but since we'll be in Reno I probably won't stand out as much.

Anyhow let me give you my yahoo e-mail in case you're going and want to meet up for a couple beers or something. My e-mail is kphga1977@yahoo.com catch ya at the show!

Brother-in law with a new girlfriend??? How does that work out?

I'll be there On Friday. If I don't find anything good it should still be fun to fondle the fun toys :D

My brother-in-law is my wife's brother who was already somewhat interested in maybe owning a Glock 17 when he turned 21 (he's 20)... that was before I introduced him to my friends like mr. SOCOM-16 and mr. Remington 870.

I'll be there Friday afternoon. Rascal and I usually try to get together for cocktails, so maybe we can link up in one of the lounges at the Hilton? I'm an older white guy, 6'/220, gray/brown hair and a gray goatee. Don't know what I'll be wearing. Rascal usually wears a black cowboy hat. PM me and I'll give ya my cell#
