Yep, that's a Troy HK-style folding front sight. I run one on my ATAC GPU and it's a very solid sight (like all Troy products).

Just a heads-up.

The railed gas blocks they link to are all gas block height. You would need rail height/receiver height to be able to use a rail height mounted sight like a TROY.

I have one of these http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=2...RAIL_GAS_BLOCK (http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=29340/Product/AR_15_M16_PICATINNY_RAIL_GAS_BLOCK) (referenced in my post above) and it is receiver height. My flip-up front sight is mounted to it & it is fine. Can't speak to the other ones but why would a manufacturer make a top-railed gas block shorter than receiver height? It would be more than pointless & likely result in lots of PO'ed customers.

You must be new to ARS.

Gas block rail height has been shorter than receiver/rail height for a long time. It's only in recent years, with the popularity of FF railed handguards and their respective front sights, that there's been any need/demand for a gas block that matches the height of the rail. Obviously weight would be one good reason not to make it the same height, and is likely the historical reason.

That gas block you showed is not rail height. You can clearly tell the difference, by the location of the gas tube roll pin hole. The one I posted below, on the left, is receiver/rail height:

I just looked at my AR & my gasblock is like the one on the right. I checked my flip-up front sight against a standard AR sight/gasblock & it is lined up. I guess I have an extra height flip-up front sight so there was never an issue with my gasblock & I just ASSumed it was "normal" height.

Cool.

There's definitely a difference and it affects what you buy for your front sight.

Some of the more popular folders (Troy) are not available in gasblock height.
