View Full Version : To stake or not to stake?

What are your guys thoughts on staking the castle nut? I've never done it. Hell, didn't even know about staking it until a couple years ago. I usually use a little Blue loc-tite. About every other year I like to take down my firearms almost 100% and give them a good cleaning. If I stake it I'd have to keep removing it each time.
What do you guys do?

Don't do mine, just tighten them really nice and maybe a spot of locktite is I have problems.

Staking the castle nut is the right thing to do. With that being said, all of my carbine lowers that I assembled do NOT have staked castle nuts. I just tighten them as if I meant it. Two of my carbines have gone through class and have been mortared for some malfunction drills. So far, so good and none of them have gone crooked yet. I'm a real stickler for having the stocks leveled and not tilted to one side.
