I was wondering if anyone knows of a 6.8spc sidefolding ar? I really like what ZM Weapons has done, but they only offer the rifles in .223.

I think it would be cool to get a rifle like this but sbr in 6.8. Any other manufacturers experimenting with this stuff?

I think that rifle became the Para TTR

If you really want a side-folding 6.8spc rifle, try the Robinson XCR

you're gonna need a long barrel in order to make 30" OAL if you want a side folder.

Im aware of the long barrel requirement. Wow maybe, if my dreams come true, Fn will make the Scar L in 6.8

The Remington ACR will probably be available in 6.8 SPC. It's more like an AR180 but bfd.

Sure, just build your own upper with a piston. Its going to cost more for a side folding setup but I'm sure you already know that. Only down side I see is that a longer barrel won't help the 6.8 round any. It was designed to shoot out of a short barrel so a longer barrel is just going to add friction after all the powder has burned and possibly slow the bullet down.

piston uppers don't obviate the need for a buffer tube.

I'm certain a good smith could replace a ZM barrel with 6.8.

But.... why? Just get a sidefolding AK.

Yup, you would need to run a modified bolt and run a spring with your piston like and AK or SU16. In other words....... $$$$. Lots of money for very little gain.

I agree an AK would be a better. The AR was never intended to have a side folder.

The XCR uses an AK style spring inside the op-rod.
