View Full Version : Why did they ask my nationality ?

I just bought a SKS at Turners (I know they suck, but I had some gift certificates). The guy asked what state I was born in and what my nationality was? Why?

Because this is the question on the federal form and on the online DROS form that the sales guy submits to DOJ.

I think his point is if the answer to the state question was a U.S. state then his nationality would have to be U.S.

Because the government wants to track how many minorities own firearms. Sorry, couldn't resist. (I'm a minority myself). I just watched a family guy episode the other day stating something along the lines of "guns don't kill people, dangerous minorities do":D

ISTR the form says to check all that apply. I've been tempted to check all the boxes just to see if it makes any difference.

hmm, in this case, you might not want to. But thats what I did (check all the wierd boxes) on all of the tests I had to take in HS, I would say I was an immigrant from some random pacific Island, when in reality I am all northwestern euro :P

I'm an Anglo-Saxon American, NOT Caucasian, so I check "other". :D I purchased a shotgun recently and they couldn't find the United Kingdom on the DROS computer form... they asked me if Australia would do!

Psh, Im a *deep breath* Franco-Germanic Scots-Irish Anglo-Saxon American.

Whenever they ask me to volunteer information I volunteer to decline.

I hear that, I was in Longs and they wanted to swipe my Drivers License when I bought a pack of beer... I declined and told them to read it.
