If this has been covered already, I apologize...
I am getting ready to convert my Saiga 223. I would like to be able to make a working 10/30 for it. Is it possible to take an AK47 mag and change the follower and have it work with 223 ammo? Of course, I would have installed a bullet guide at the trunion.

Any advice or info is greatly appreciated!

From what I know about the two rounds, no, you can't convert them. I have seen a converter to use AR-15 mag in a saiga. Might want to check into that.

No. First you will have to decide on which AK .223 platform to go with, and stick with that proprietary magazine. They are not all compatible. If I were you, I'd convert it to accept the Romainian or E. German Weiger mags. Those are the most common mags. Second choice is to mod the rifle to accept AK 74 mags and modify the 5.45x39 mags to work with .223 rounds.

Why don't you get a .223 Saiga compatible 30 round rebuild kit and make a 10/30 out of that? You can't just put .223 in a 7.62x39 mag.
