I considered getting one to register as a .50BMG alongside the FAB-10.

It has its purpose.. just a highly specialized one.

It was the thing to get, before the bullet button magazine lock was invented.

I have one of those as a dedicated lower on my Ferret50 in .510 DTC. It's great for a single shot bolt gun. For other applications, not so much.

I saw one of these at the Turners in West Covina. It's laughable.

It's only a 12-14 weeks back order. How do I get on the list?

Yeah I was going to say.....the thing is backordered, which might allow us to suppose that people have ordered it.

Keep in mind that we didn't have OLLs when the .50BMG ban was looming, after being passed in August, and before being enacted in January. It was a couple years before the OLLs began, an additional year before Bullet Buttons came around.

You had two real (AR-15 variant) choices back then: FAB-10, or the DPMS single-shot. neither were readily available new under $200 apiece.

California has changed much in the past few years.

my pc says 18-24 weeks! does that mean impact has been inundated with orders since this thread was posted?

Once the .50BMG ban was passed, you couldn't find these anywhere. They sold quickly to guys wanting to make sure they had an option to build one up down the road.

One of these days I'll have the funds to build mine up.

Those are great for the Ferret / Bohica .510 DTC builds where they will be mounted to the upper permanently. Nothing looks more bubba than a .510 DTC upper and a lower with empty magwell marked CAL 5.56.

As others have said, they look great with a .50 upper pinned onto them. They definitely have their uses.

Ha no the FAB-10 was the thing to get before the BB. I still have one. Its a top loading AR. It was pretty cool......before the BB came along and bufud it into obsoleteness

This product has been on the market for years before OLLs were even considered as possibilities. At that time, this was a very legitimate alternative for Californians. They rose to meet the needs of our market. Kudos to them for it.
