Was wondering what the community thought about my dad & son setup. Both are bullet buttoned. Son's rifle has EOtech reddot. Mine is light, fast, and fun.

Think I have enough ammo? Just got 5000rds at the gun show. Along with a new CGN lower. Can't wait. What do you guys think would be fun to do with my son (16 yo) and his new black rifle?

I can't wait for my trip to the range (angeles). Oh and BTW is that signature significant or just a quote from one of the most badass bands of all time?

Wow...all I can say is wow! Wow!!!

You and your son should do an "Appleseed" event, run by the Civilian Marksmanship Program:

http://www.thecmp.org/forums/showthread.php?t=79

Contact your local range/s and see which ones have either 3-gun or tactical rifle events, or both, for you and your son to sign up for.

I thought I saw some other members that live in the L.A. area, that go out to various BLM (Bureau of Land Management) areas to go shoot at, as well.

Congrats and enjoy!

if you and your son haven't gotten out and did some mag dumps go out to some blm and have some fun. you both will have a grin from ear to ear just wasting some ammo. I say blm because all ranges in sf bay area that i know of have a rapid fire rule meaning 1 round every few seconds.

wow man, thats almost an exact mirror of the build I did for myself and my father.

I went tacticool, he kept his sweet and simple. I couldn't think of a better way for he and I to bond....

I honestly feel like this is a whole new area for us to explore because when I was younger we shared a different hobby, and now we have this to experience together.... it really is a great thing for me.

Thanks. I had the son do all the research on the laws and such. I just went out and bought the lowers. So I guess we share that in common too. Well what do you think I could do with my son other than the usual trips to angeles?
Teaching em saftey, responsibility, and I'm certainly bonding with the yout.

Man, you know what I value more than anything?

Just spending time with my father.... the rest of it... the when and where... it won't matter in 10, 15, 20 years. Its the bonding, because that's priceless.

Take a tactical course with him. That would be cool as a kid. He might have to wait until he's 18.
Take him out to some BLM land and practice double taps and show him how dificult that is with all that tacticool junk.

i have a few consecutive lowers that i will be building when my son is ready. he is 10 and began shooting w/ a 10/22.

he has shot my ARs and he's already got BRD. i think 12-13 will be a good age for him to build one.

You can get a map of the BLM land around you. That will tell you where you can shoot.

That is an excellent idea- but just for clarification purposes, Appleseed shoots are not run by the CMP, though the course does fulfill the "hands-on" training requirement to order from the CMP.

The shoots are run by the Revolutionary War Veterans Association (rwva.org)
