I'd like to avoid the front hand-guard, and build a custom style gas-gun. Any ideas on how to fashion and connect the gas-tube? Thanks. LeoL.

Why are you avoiding the front handguard?

Next-

The gas tube is connected to the gasblock. The handguard or rail has nothing to do with retaining it.

Or-

Are you asking about the gas system as in "how to make it single shot?

oh...

Are we talking x51 or x39?
Because 7.5 on a x51 is gonna be difficult.

yipes...

I'm curious as to how 7.62x51 vs. x39 velocity would compare from a 7" barrel. All that powder isn't going to burn, certainly.

I 2nd Tech's questions... I'm thoroughly confused. Your biggest issue isn't how to attach, but how big to drill your port size.

it wouldn't.... he means AR-10 or AR-308, I assume.

7.62x51 won't fit in an AR-15 receiver, but will in an AR-10 receiver.

Its already been done in 10.5in. So at least he may have a gas port size to start toying with. If in fact he is talking about x51.

I love how everyone assumes it is x 51. Well, if it is it better be belt fed.

Be nice to get more info.
