I hope this isn't a dupe, but I spotted this thread over at ARFCOM. So sad.

Whats even worse is it is from a fellow Californian. He claims it is what his shop charged him.

cheapest you could get them up here last year was $375......and that's why i haven't built an AR yet. I bought 7 guns for what an AR would have cost me last year

If he indeed paid $780 for a complete lower then all I can say is good job to the shop that sold to this hapless sucker :kest: A KD lower too not even a Magpul lower...

What a fool.

I just did a PPT today with a cool calguns member and bought a new Anvil Arms stripped lower from him for $100.

My Ar upper cost me 250 pre obama bust. I seen the same upper going for 800$ post Obama

I would not have paid that much, even during the panic buying. Finished my first AR-15... cost was $750. Add on the DD A1.5 sight, and it came to $832 or so total. That is with DROS/PTT fee and tax.

11-28-2009, 9:13 PM
I've paid more than that for a complete lower...

of course, it included a billet lower, Geissele trigger & UBR.......

That's Probably the cosigned rifle the local place had trying to sell to me for $1900. They offered it after I said "no" to the stripped CMMG lower for $250, but before they tried to sell me a box of Walmart Federal .40 for $23. Havn't been back since.

LOL. Go on a crusade!

If someone is willing to spend $400 on a Stag lower, then it is a mutually beneficial business deal. If you are smarter than that, then good for you.

Man did he ever troll them. You gotta admire the balls on that guy. At least two boards up in arms with a couple of posts. My most expensive lower was my CalGuns one, but it was for a good cause. All the rest have been $80-129 less the dros. Even at the height of the Obamamania. There ain't no way anybody should be paying much more than that for what amounts to a parts holder.

Im not sure how bashing another member on CGs is ok. The last thread was deleted so Im going to guess that if this one follows the same path it will get an account deleted.

Quit whining about the prices, I see folks selling G3s which cost $300 but are selling for $3k. Should we start a thread on the class 3 guys selling MP5s for 16k?

If and when we have access to these it would be nice if we pass along good deals and ignore the junk.

Man, I'll never forget the gun show last year at delmar.

CWS had 1800 dollar complete stag arms, 1100 dollar PSLs, 500 dollar complete lowers. Ouch... People were lining up 3 deep to get at em too.

Oh well.

One of my close friends went to a local gun store yesterday and called me while he was there. "Do Spikes stripped lower receivers in 5.56 cost $440 normally?" He is an AR noob so I'm going in there this upcomming week. If they are really selling a $440 Spikes stripped lower, that is worse than Obama Scare 2008 pricing.

Come on, guys. It's only a ripoff if he could and wanted to pay less somewhere else. If he paid that much and is happy, no ripoff took place.

I sure did! I'm going to verify the price this week. If that's the case, that shop lost my business. I know of four FFL's selling quality milled stripped lower receivers for $80 to $160 within 30 miles.

It was in their ad as if it was some kind of deal! If there was a dealer near Modesto selling them for $100, I might be tempted to pick up a spare or two.

Barnwood is new to the OLL thing and I'm sure prices will start to come around give it time. I'm thankful that they ARE selling them. I Really like Barnwood arms. Great service and gunsmithing, Paul is very prompt in gunsmithing. Its not the cheapest in town but its a local family run business. Do enough business there and they treat you like family. I would rather pay a little more and get "Family" like service then get $30-40 off from a box gun store and nobody knows your name!

BRANDON7766
11-29-2009, 5:34 PM
yeah, good people there, not knocking them but that's a pretty high price for a OLL. My family and I have bought 4 guns there in the past 10 days lol. 3 Glocks and a Browning .22
