Californians,

I know I said I was going to follow our 2009 $12,000 check by sending in our 2010 donations in one month at a time ...

But it's looking more and more like the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country is right flippin' now.

I know you gents said you had very low phone bills / electric bills to contend with and that's fine, so take the right so-and-so's to lunch or something.

Mark,

Jeezus H. Keerist... we at CGF (as well as all California gunnies) thank you for your generosity.

Thank you also for realizing that we ARE fighting in CA and haven't given in, and are making progress.

Your donation will:
1) continue to get good folks outta trouble.
2) help in part on a special brief for the "Chicago case" up before the Supremes;
3) help in part on lawsuit that will roll back a mailorder ammo ban.

Thank you again.

[B]Californians,

Didn't this start with a flap over a "no Californians" policy? I'm officially changing my position--please, everyone outside of California, hate California gun-owners, they deserve it. Hate them just as much as Mark LaRue does.

But seriously, if everybody in free(er) states adopted the same kind of NATO-doctrine strategy to concentrate resources on the front line..."What if we gave a war on gun control and EVERYBODY came?"

Don't we hit Omaha beach June-ish? :43:

We will support you as you have shown great support to us.

Outstanding. Bonus that LaRue makes awesome mounts. I love their aimpoint flip-to-side magnifier mount. Got it from Mark himself at SHOT a couple years ago. He's a nice guy to boot.

I encourage everyone to keep donating. There is no reason that the schmucks at the ACLU and ACORN should be the only ones filing constitutional challenges. Let's keep it up!

Remember, make those donations before 12/31 and you get to claim it on this year's taxes!

I was around when he wouldn't sell and like every other manufacture he had good reason not to. But after coming to be enlightened, he not only donated but became a member and personally came on calguns to say thanks for the bringing the fight and promised an annual donation, now if we can convince him to pull a Barret and refuse all sales and service to Ca law enforcement agency's.

Connor P Price

Scanning the check and allowing everyone to see sets a great example for other people to donate as well. You might look at it as not being genuine, but it probably ends up helping the cause more thanks to it being public.

Is it also an attempt to drum up some business from California gun owners on Marks part? Sure, it probably is. That's what businesses do, profit is the goal. If he really wanted that money to add to his business some clever advertising could have worked just as well, but he decided to give it to CGF because he can see its a good cause.

We appreciate all your help Mark! You've earned yourself a new customer!

Can you point to where this is listed? The last I heard they still wouldn't sell to us even through an out of state FFL. I really hope I'm wrong, but I haven't seen it posted anywhere that someone from California can call LT and order a lower, even if you have it shipped to a 3rd party 1st.

the fact remains that NO ONE can purchase a LaRue lower unless they already have a complete upper. this applies to all states.
if you have a complete upper, call LaRue and see if they will send you a lower.

I don't understand this. Does it have to do with their licensing or an agreement with ATF, or is there something about their lowers that makes them incompatible with other uppers?

just policy, nothing external or driven by compatibility issues..
when they came out w/ the billet lowers, which are supposedly pretty much sold at a loss, they decided to only sell them to folks w/ LaRue uppers.

I don't understand this. Does it have to do with their licensing or an agreement with ATF, or is there something about their lowers that makes them incompatible with other uppers?

What it means is in order to be eligible to purchase a LT lower receiver, you must have first purchased a complete LaRue Tactical Stealth or DMR upper.

As to weather or not Mark changed his policy with regards to CA and his lower receivers remains to be seen. An earlier post in this thread gives me hope though. I'd love to have a LaRue billet lower receiver.

Because there was some serious **** talking months ago, and he put up instead of shut up, so he can take all the credit he wants. That's $24K this year, if you donated 24 grand, you would have every right to mention it. I'm really surprised that some of the other companies making HUGE money off CA gunnies since CALGUNS got the OLL thing fixed haven't stepped up and made some big donations as well.

Unfortunately I've only made one purchase (so far) from LaRue and it was an outstanding experience. Great customer service, quick shipping, and they threw in some extra goodies that I wasn't expecting. I actually called and told them that they had made a mistake. And I add Mr LaRue has donated this large amount TWICE.

This thread is 6 months old and the fanboys are still on their knees singing his praises... why? Oh, right... because he oh so graciously donated money as damage control. Too bad nothing has changed; same crappy attitude toward CA and the "no lowers directly to CA" policy remains in effect.

There are too many other high quality products from companies who ACTUALLY support CA to waste time with ones that don't.

Supporting callifornia by lining their pockets with more sales. LaRue provides what we need, MONEY to fund legal challenges to eliminate these draconian laws. I'm sure he'd love to sell weapons to this giant (and gun hungry) state, however it's not without risk, which you likely do not understand.

Carry on.

Please tell me what the risks are when the product is 100% legal with documentation backing that up directly from the DOJ, and the legal barrier of the PLCA?

With Mark LaRue's support, he has allowed CGF to do things like:

* File lawsuit(s)
* Defend California gun owners from malicious prosecution
* Fight illegal firearm seizure and return the property to the owner

How many OLLs of various makes exist in California and are being fervently watched over and defended by CGF? Mark LaRue understands what Calguns Foundation means to the future of gun rights... he's donated $24,000 to defend and advance liberty in California, including those firearms of other manufacturers.

Can anyone show me a firearm manufacturer which has supported our cause and CGF as Mr. LaRue has over the past year?

No one can doubt the quality of LaRue Tactical, it's good stuff. Maybe Mark doesn't always say the things we'd like to hear but I can vouch for him being a great guy. We share an interest in General Aviation and Mark and I talked at length at the Shot Show this last January. He didn't seem to mind that I may have smelled of Kalifornia and we talked about his generous donation(s). I'm not a big dealer, in fact I only occasionally buy specific items from him so he had nothing to gain in talking with me for so long, while other customers wandered in and out of his booth.

Perhaps we shouldn't be so quick to look a gift horse in the mouth...

He didn't make the "donation" till after he was called on the carpet.

If you go back an research the whole scenario it goes something like this.

LaRue was an Anti-CA company, they would not ship here. LaRue was getting flamed on the board and he came on here and stated if you can show me it's ok and the law to back it up not oly will I ship I'll donate to the cause.

He is a man of his word and not only began shipping he donated, and again, and again...

We California gun owners appreciate your contribution. I might have to change my opinion of you.

As you know it has been a struggle here to keep our 2A rights. So your support is very helpful.

Now, if I could just find one of your rifles for sale here... You make great kit, thanks again.

Sincerely,
Scott

Can't say the same about other companies who feel the need to flash cash and have their egos stroked.

For 12 grand he better be getting something stroked.... even if it is just his ego.

Holy cow. This man puts his money where his mouth is. Very impressive indeed. BTW...I just picked up my first scope mount. A LaRue LT111. A beautifully engineered piece of firearms artwork. Thanks Mark, we love you out here in California.

While it's an old thread I did not know about Mesa's generosity, Thanks you!

While La Rue may or may not ship their lowers here still (lowers only, I think he'll ship the upper receivers), I've purchased both a lower & upper here in CA & both are well worth the money.

I dont understand what this LT will not sell lowers to us in CA? In the last year I have bought two from a local FFL who ordered them direct from La Rue. I know that they are currently not selling any lowers to anyone so that they can catch up with there rifle builds. But the idea that they will not sell any is crap. Hell I even bought a full OBR from my FFL who ordered direct from LaRue.

This thread was from 11/2009!

Back then YOU COULD NOT buy a lower from LaRue.
He has seen the light (back in 2009) and is why you can get them now.

Geez, a mod needs to lock this thread...

Librarian, where are you?..

Lunch.

No question, we should be grateful to Larue, and Mesa, and everyone who uses Shop42A, and whatever donation of time or treasure folks have made toward regaining our civil rights.

Thanks, all of you.
