View Full Version : Coffee with Kevin DeLeon

So I attended DeLeon's community meeting last night on Sunset Blvd in LA, prepared to tell him how much this voter was disappointed over his ammo restriction bill and his anti 2A stance in general.

He would not let me speak. After standing there for two hours (he was over 30 min late), he cut off the Q&A and refused to let me say my piece. Typical.

The room was filled with the most pathetic bunch of Socialist whinners and SEIU thugs I've ever seen. Straight out of Marxism 101. In a room of 50+, there was only one person that spoke against these guys, urging the Assemblyman to "live within our means".

All I could do is put "Gun Facts 5.0" into DeLeon's hand after the event and urge him to read it. I'm not holding my breath but at least I feel I tried to fight the good fight.

He cut you off?

Not exactly. After waiting with my hand raised for nearly two hours and being assured by the guy picking who speaks in what order that I would be next, DeLeon promptly cut off the session Q&A. I politely interrupted and asked if I could state my question...then he cut me off. Maybe he could see I wasn't a supporter? He claimed our time was up but had no problem staying around for pictures, handshakes and baby kissing.

I would like to thank you for going anyway, and trying. I feel the liberals will be getting theirs in the 2010 election. I would love to send him a pink-slip (YOU'RE FIRED)!

I appreciate that. I sure hope you're right about 2010 but being in that room of out-and-out Marxists was sure disheartening.

Thanks for trying. It would have been nice to see a mob of gunnies take that mofo over, but one is better than none!

It is amazing how much our elected represeantives don't want to hear from their consituants who don't agree with some or all of their positions.

I used to try to get time with a local state assemblyman. The only thing he wanted to talk about was taxing "rich people" to help pay for children's healthcare.

Even though he voted on gun restrictions he didn't actually want to talk about that issue. Just tax the rich to help poor people's kids.

the hubby actually got to talk at one of these things a number of years ago, LA city council, I think. after several rounds of being shut out from talking (similar to yours) he changed plans. showed up in penny loafers, tweed sportcoat with elbow patches, chinos, and black rim glasses. got right on the speaker's list and got to the podium. they tried to shut him off after 30 seconds, but he pointed to the 2min timer they'd been using to time speakers and insisted on the rest of his time. got to say his bit... not that it changed anyone's mind, but he got to say it.
if you're going again, I'd suggest liberal camo and make your announced subject on improving gun control.

They will hear you loud and clear when you vote them out of office! I can see it now...our Non-Representing "Representatives" walking out of the House and Senate with their little cardboard boxes full of letters from their constituents that they should have read. That will be priceless!

I'm glad you went to this thing. I was going to try to make it, I have a remodel project going in Elysian Heights not far from there.

But I was pretty filthy by the end of the day and figured I would present a bad image for us gunnies. Tired too, and not likely to be diplomatic. Sounds like you made a better showing than I would have.

Just out of interest, what type of people (other than the Marxist title) were in the group? Mostly white, Latino, Afro-American or what?

85% Latino, 10% Black. The two purple-shirted SEIU thugs were middle aged overweight White guys.

If he has his employees weed out possible pro-gun types from speaking, than I am certain he NEVER reads or CARES about the emails from pro-gun types. What a huge P.O.S. Taking our tax dollars for his over inflated salary and not listening to the people is criminal in my eyes.

Eh I fit the liberal camo normally. I am a female that prefers longer skirts being that I am tall. I have long hair and disabled. I am the antithesis of what a gun owner looks like :D. But seriously I give you kudos for attempting to put him in the hot seat. If you really want to make him cringe have some nice stats to throw at him like Sacramento's crime stats for this year from using his mickeymouse bill since they tested it there ::devil:: Also do a little digging find out if he has a CCW himself.

I had a few bullet points ready to go; nice stats that I hoped would make some in the room think twice about gun control. I like the idea of identifying politicians with CCWs. Is there a public source for that?

Ahhhh...another fine example of representative government in Kalifornia.
We speak...they ignor, dodge constituants and keep on spending other people's money. Why?
Because they can.
Good for you for trying dude!

Had a similar thing happen to me over the last Congressional Recess, but at least my Congress woman was honest & said she'd vote her conscience over the wishes of her constituents. Funny, but I don't believe that will be her campaign motto. Luckily taped the whole thing, not that that will mnake a difference to the voters here... in San Diego or all places

CharlieK, thanks for taking the time to show up.

Perhaps next time you should phrase (or identify) your question in terms of "Common Sense Gun Control". Then you could throw in something like suppressors for health reasons (ear damage). ;)

I was impressed over your activism, until I read those two little words, "SEIU thugs".

Funny how two little words have completely reversed my opinion!

It is so lucky that you weren't beaten to death, what with all those thugs there!

Funny!

Are you personally handling donations for Kenneth Gladney? Now THERE is a "victim" I can get behind!

Of course, some say that using Google to view the different interviews that Poor Kenny gave, and spotting the discrepencies in his story, would lead some to conclude that Poor Kenny is an abject liar, but why go through all that effort? Isn't it sufficient to just accept the claims of the Tea Party (who, oddly enough, are putting some distance from Poor Kenny)?

May reality never trouble your agenda!
