Calgunners,

Finally, one of the finest long range riflescopes to come down the pike in a long time has arrived, the Vortex Razor HD. This 5-20x50 riflescope is everything a Nightforce could be, but isn't. Read all about it here:

http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-razor-hd-5-20x50-riflescope-with-ebr-2-mrad-reticle

Price for Calgunners is $1999 shipped.

If you have any questions, let 'er rip.

So will a Nightforce, which is a lesser scope. But you are right, it's a pricy scope in a bad economy.

Is it that much better than NF?

Nightforce has an excellent track record for shooting enthusiasts. But the optics are pretty mediocre.

This scope has so much care in design, materials, and engineering, PLUS great glass, I'm very confident in the long term it will prove to be a better quality option.

If you have the time, check this thread out. It's got all of the info there.

Just read the whole snipershide thread up till today. I gotta say it looks great. Love those cutaway images, and Sam's video on setting zero:

Here are links to the field tests:

And setting Zero:

I think this will be my first scope.

Thanks Scott for bringing this to my attention. Need to work some things out but you will hear from me soon.

One issue people have with the Nightforce scopes is that the whole occular spins when focusing creating a problem when using the butler creek lens caps. It looks like this may be an issue with the Razor as well. Is that the case? Its not gonna deter me, just wondering. I will probably just use the bikini covers that come with it anyway.

No sir, it's a fast focus, Euro-style ocular. Set your diopter, put on the cap, and off you go.

Scott, Looking to pickup a 2nd scope, currently shooting a Premier. Whats your recommendation a 2nd premier, F1 or Vortex?

In my book, the F1 is second fiddle to the Razor, and less money, too.

If you like the Premier (best glass in the business) and it's features get another one. The Razor isn't quite there optically but it doesn't take a back seat mechanically and internally and with time might prove to be just as good.
