Can come one point me to a link where it states the actual crimes/punishments for violating SB23. Im doing a policy paper and need the info on what actually happens for violating this law, and the penal codes that correspond. A link to a gov website would be nice. Thanks

I'm shocked that your extensive research for such a paper did not turn up the information requested.

And you may enjoy the info at History of 'Assault Weapon' laws (http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/index.php/History_of_%27Assault_Weapon%27_laws)

Actual penalties are sometimes difficult to read from some gun laws - a penalty may be laid out in another section, for example.

In the real world, in a broken & overloaded court system charges and penalties are often disconnected. Aside from AW matters, a DA may recommend a plea agreement no jail /min fine to entice someone to plead to a felony, to make the DA's record look good. This often happens to stupid kids with drugs.

AW possession can be charged as a felony, misdemenaor, or civil nuisance.

AW transport/manufacturing/illegal transfer/illegal transport is chargeable as a felony.
