So if a person had mag locked AR and a 870 aow could you mount the 870 to your AR like this picture, or would it become a SBS because there is a defecto stock attached?

that is unfortunately the current thought of the NFA crowd. There are a couple letters into Tech Branch trying to get a ruling stating that an AOW mounted to a separate firearm doesn't become a SBR/SBS, but I haven't heard the status of those letters.

I don't see the issue. That shotgun is attached to a stock and the OAL is WAY over 26". I guess the shotgun has less than an 18" barrel though...

yup, if the AOW is attached to a shoulder-stocked firearm, the feeling is that the AOw "inherits" the "designed to be fired from the shoulder" capabiltiy of the host gun. Now, you have a item that fits the definition of an SBS, not an AOW.

i'm guessing because the shotgun isn't permanently attached, no dice. if it comes off it doesn't meet the length requirements. pretty sweet though!

that looks like part of the remmie 870 MCS (modular combat shotgun) system...

stock and barrels are easily swappable...

What if that 870 was intsalled an a Registered AW??

Would the shotgun just be considered a feature maybe??

(Shot in the dark I know)

THIS is what I need for a home defense gun. Except mine will have a chain saw attached to the shotgun. And I'll cover the chain saw blade with AIDS!

(Shot in the dark I know)the status of the host gun being a RAW or not really doesn't matter. The problem is with the stock of the rifle possibly "converting" the AOW into an unregistered SBS.

So what if the shotgun was a sbs?

So what if the shotgun was a sbs?If the shotgun was SBS, then there is no issue with the rifle's shoulder stock since an SBS can have a shoulder stock.

One option may be to mount an AOW "shottie" under an AR-pistol. No shoulder stock to turn the AOW into an SBS:D
