View Full Version : Freedom of $peech.
In case you haven't been following this:
(rant)
HR 310 (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c109:2:./temp/~c109dE1CCH::) will up the ante for fines against the broadcast media for violations of "decency" from the current maximum of $32,500 to $500,000. Half a million dollars is what the "F" word or a Janet Jackson moment could cost broadcasters if signed into law. The proposal includes a three strikes clause too, wherein the FCC can yank free speech licenses (yes, they are!) for multiple violations of these rules. Forkin' ridiculous!
The Senate version tones down the fine a bit to $325,000 and places a cap on the maximum, per day fines at $3 million dollars. Thank goodness for a reasonable resolution, huh? http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
So much for the First (http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/data/constitution/amendment01/) and Eighth (http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/data/constitution/amendment08/) amendments.

Ok, that's enough. You used too many F-words. I'm a multi-millionaire now. Send me the check ASAP! http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Just kidding.

LOL. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Take a post-dated, third party check, right? That's standard protocol for how I pay the Feds. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
However, it might just become reality someday.
It shouldn't be hard for us "gun nuts" to envision a day when we will be required to have an "internet license" to post on this forum and that anything said will have to be submitted to the DOJ to determine if it's seditious and/or "too subversive" to print before it will be seen.
