Around 9 months ago I came here with an embarrassing question, and all I got back was welcomes, support, and advice on which gun to buy. Heres the link to the original thread... http://calguns.net/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/751609466/m/275106...10655711#27510655711 (http://calguns.net/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/751609466/m/27510655711/r/27510655711#27510655711)

I just turned 21 and bought my first handgun. I did go with my original plan and bought a 1911, but I went all out and bought a Les Baer TRS. Again, thanks to all that helped me out.

Congratulations on your first handgun. You've made a great choice but there is one big downside...you won't be satisfied with a standard production handgun from now on. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Start saving now for your next one. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Enjoy your Baer, mine are great shooters.

Oh, the other thing we say around here is:

Ahh before you know it you will be working for the sole purpose of being able to buy your next gun! You might have other side hobbies, but it'll all come back to guns.

congrats on the 1911. I was super stoked when I got my springfield 3 years ago. I've finally mastered it and it's worth every penny.

This is true.
Four guns ago, I promised my wife no more, but these great deals seem to keep coming up.
I think she is done with it now, My safe is having a hard time holding everything, and is bulging at the seams.

I don't have a digital camera yet, but I'm planning on getting one pretty soon. I'll post pics asap. I don't mind regular production 1911s. They won't be as tight as the Baer, but at 7 to 10 yards they can probably shoot just as well. My next purchase will be somekind of commander sized 1911.

Bling Bling - you hit it right on the nose. I was outta the gun scene for a while then heard it calling my name. I came back and my first handgun is a S&W 1911PD. I've got a feeling I'll be filling up my gun safe soon enough. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

UPDATE:

My Baer now has 1,536 rounds of WWB through her. I would consider her broken in and fairly smooth. I was completely taken off gaurd when I tried to rack the slide for the first time. I thought the slide was seized to the frame, but it just had an EXTREMELY tight slide to frame fit. The bushing to barrel fit is equally tight, and a thick solid bushing wrench was needed for take down. I don't think any other 1911 maker makes a tighter 1911. I haven't had a single FTF or FTE out of the 1,536 rounds fired. I'm using wilson 8 round mags, and the three Baer mags supplied with the TRS. I've been shooting at the 10-15 yard mark in my local indoor range. It's very accurate and if I do my part it shoots 1" - 2" groups @ 10 yards. I'm still a novice shooter, and I hope to post better groups in the future. It's been alittle over a month now since I bought her, and I already have the 1911 fever. I managed to locate a new production series 70 Colt thats never been shot, and I bought it. My 10 day waiting period is almost up. Back to the Baer. Despite it being so tight, it hasn't failed once, and I don't think it will ever fail if I use good mags and ammo. My girlfriend bought a digital camera, and we're expecting it in the mail anyday now. Once I get it set up, I'll take pictures of the Baer TRS along with my new Colt series 70 to post. Thank you again for your advice and support.

Cheers!

I bought it from a private seller in San Jose, California. The guy has an entire vaulted room that contains unique and rare firearms. I didn't ask him how he got the Colt, but he had dozens of different government models that he showed me. I just got home from shooting the Colt, and it wasn't half bad. I do plan to send it out to a smith for some tweaking though.
