Buying an old bolt action rifle from a friend - early 1950's commercial sporter, non-military.

Is it C&R?

He DROS'd it when he bought it several years ago. Do we have to do that again?

If C&R, do wo we go through a regular FFL? If not, how do we locate a C&R FFL? Either way, what is the cost to transfer?

Is it cash & carry?

Thanks.

If you can prove it is more than 50 years old, you can just face-to-face it. His DROS, however many years ago, has no bearing.

Just for info, a C&R FFL can only purchase firearms for his collection with that license; it isn't for processing purchases for anyone else.

In California, a C&R really is only of use when you leave the state.

Thanks. The guy was a little queasy about no paper work, cash & carry. I guess he called DOJ and they confirmed it was OK. Done deal. Picked up a really nice old Model 70
