Introduction To The Use of The Practical Shotgun

Saturday, June 11, 2005

Cleckner Building by Trap

Cost: $50.00

Instructor - Steve Healey

A one day introduction to the practical use of the shotgun. Safety will be discussed in detail, however this is not a Handgun Safety Certificate class. No state Safety Certificate (HSC) will be issued. This class can serve as a good introduction to any of the nationally famous firearm training academies.

The class is divided into two parts: classroom lecture and shooting practice.

Topics covered will be firearm and ammunition selection, targeting considerations, cover and concealment, tactics, accessories, addressing malfunctions, an introduction to security hardware and planning.

Although we are not attorneys, some discussion of the legal considerations in the use of firearms will be covered.

The range portion will include instruction in safe gun handling and multiple target engagement. Techniques will concentrate on short range shooting (less than 10 yards) combining speed and accuracy.

EQUIPMENT: Shotgun, 50 rounds of "birdshot" (7 ½ or 8 shot) and 5 rounds "Buckshot": Ammo is available for purchase at the range. Wear old comfortable clothing. Hearing and eye protection are required (also available for purchase at the range.)

The classroom begins at 9:00 A.M. sharp and continues until about noon. The range portion is from 1:00 P.M. until about 4:00 P.M. We recommend you bring a lunch.
