Here's a neat one, a G33/40 used by German mountain troops, shorter in length than the standard Mod 98, reduced weight bolt, modified butt stock with extra metal added.

All matching #'s, great patina on the finish, nice shiney barrel.

Hmm interesting... that rifle has the extra hanguard that stretches behind the rear sight. I thought that was more of a Yugoslavian thing. Neat little rifle though.

There was a G33/40 at the Cow Palace show, irrc $1,800.00.

We used to get them through the mail before the GCA for less than $40.00.

Oh the Mitchell's is a M48 that I picked up cheap off of Gunbroker.

Didn't pay $1800 thank god, cheaper ;-)

I first learned of the 33/40's on that Military channel program about the German military and their tactics and weapons during WWII, can't remember the name, anyways I was intrigued that the rifle was used as ladder step on a rope ladder and thought it would be a neat example to have.
