Can you guys find anything on record if the RPD is listed on the ban list.I know it has one feature that makes it a AW like a "pistol grip" but what if one was made without the grip?
1.It doesnt have flash-hider
2.Not named on the ban list?
3.Wouldnt have a grip on it(attached)

Would this work if a rifle was built in this configuration.Oh also it would have 10 round belts too,lol
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated! http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I have thought about this and was even considering calling vector to see if they would make one with no pistol grip and submit it to cal doj. The Rpd receiver is newely made with no ability to be convereted to full auto and has no direct relationship to a ak-47. It has no way of acceopting those parts or magazines.The best route would be to get a rpd manf. to submit one to cal doj, I know id buy one.

Hmmm,
Yea someone else said that they thought it was in the same series as an AK reciever but I'd thought it was completley different.Anyways the Vector reciever does look intresting as its a BATF approved semi design and can no way be made into a F/A.Comes with the BATF appoval letter too.Would be cool to build one off of the Vector reciever into a Cal-legal rifle? http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The RPD is not based upon the AK-47. It is based upon the DP-1927 LMG.

Well we know:

the RPD is NOT an AK design and doesn't take AK mags;

RPD is NOT on the Roberti-Roos list;

the rifle you'd have has no pistol grip or flash hider; [/list]

So you could get one legally provided your FFL would bring one in. He prob won't risk bringing one in unless Vector sent one to DOJ for approval.

I ask Cal DOJ about the Vepr Pioneer which is based on the RPK receiver and they said it can't be sold in Kali. Don't know about the RPD receiver.
