I did my first show this weekend at Cow Palace. Hella busy on Saturday, not too busy on Sunday. All in all a good show. I do have a few bound book questions I know many existing FFLs can answer quickly:

1) When receiving a complete lower (with LPK and stock) how do I put in bound book - Receiver or Rifle?

2) When receiving something like a PTR-91 and it comes disassembled so I am receiving as parts. Is the upper piece which is serialized considered a Receiver or Rifle?

3) Saiga-12 shotgun, properly configured, Other on 4473 and Shotgun in Bound Book, correct?

General Questions, for calibers, such as 7.62x39, do you guys just put 7.62mm or whatever is exactly stamped such as on WASRs and Saigas 7.62x39mm?

BTW, sorry for the newb FFL questions, but rather then wait to get audited I was hoping I can have the most correct paperwork ahead of time.

Thanks all for your help,

My auditors didn't ask a single question about the actual format of the data in the bound book.

1. I would have put rifle until my auditors said that unless it is a complete rifle or shotgun with a barrel, then it still isn't complete. That is after they told me in writing a complete lower was OK a few months back. I didn't get dinged on it, but it seems it would be safe to put receiver on anything not complete.

2. If it isn't complete, put receiver.

3. Long Gun

4. I don't think they will nitpick caliber. I try to be complete just in case they ever do.

Receiver.

Receiver.

Long gun on 4473 #18, shotgun on 4473 #29, shotgun in bound book.

Exactly as stamped, even though technically 7.62x39 is not a caliber, it's a cartridge.

Being an FFL is all about paperwork.
