Ive been reading non stop for weeks now on this site...and want to build my first AR. Everyone seems to think this is a great deal:

http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/CMMG_.223_5.56_AR15_M4_16__Complete_Upper_Half.htm l

The pros are obvious...but I cant seem to find any negatives...before I pull the trigger and order this, what else should I take a look at. I know its a carbine gas length system vs. a mid but I honestly dont understand what that means, can someone explain that and what else they would do different than this?

Thanks.

Carbine gas system is shorter thus harsher recoil. Shorter sight radius too.

IMO, get a mid length with a fixed stock.

Then get a BB and a solar tactical grip slip.

Convert it to BB or featureless build depending on what you want to shoot.

Best of both worlds.

Not my rifle, but a nice looking featureless mid length:

When you feel like it, put the BB back on, remove the slip, and put your forward pistol grip on.

I am going this way. Depending on the day, I will shoot it with a BB or featureless.

A mid length looks good with an A2 or sully stock.

An M4 upper looks ugly with the A2 stock.

Each to their own though.

Nope, no middy MOE handguards yet.
