I've been contemplating an AR build with a fixed stock.I've found the Magpul PRS stock. I like the looks, but to be honest it is too fancy for me. My original concept was to have a buttstock similar to an M249 SAW. That Magpul is the closest I can find to the profile I'm looking for, I just want something simpler I guess. Any suggestions out there?

Something to think about. Those big "sniper" type butt-stocks tend to be pretty heavy. As a recommendation you can get a collapsible and put a set screw in it so it doesn't collapse. ;)

The shape of the M249 buttstock would not work on an AR - it needs room for the buffer tube and you couldn't get a good cheek weld on that. Do you like the Sully stock? It's not for me but it is simple and not quite the same as an A2 stock.

ACE SOCOM comes in long (rifle) and short (carbine) versions, and comes with a screw to replace the button so you can make it a fixed stock. I'm using it on my featureless build. Very nice piece.

im not looking for a fixed stock just for a featureless build. i just have my carbines, and now i want something different. i also realize the exact design of the saw stock wouldnt work, i was looking at a m249 when i started thinking about this. i actually kind of like that sully stock. im going to try to find a picture of one on a rifle and see if i like it. also im not looking for a "sniper" type stock, its just the one stock i found that had the look i want happens to be a fancy adjustable sniper type stock. thanks for the suggestions guys. and that ace socom stock looks pretty cool. its definitly different. i might check that one out too.

FYI, the Sully stock as pictured is pretty short. They have extensions available that go on the end to provide a longer LOP.
