Anyone here try it?http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I've been thinking of getting a Glock 17, but a Glock 19 loaded w/ 15 rounds of 9mm(FOR RANGE USE ONLY) in Glock 23 mags may be a more practical choice, plus it would be easier to conceal when I travel out of state with my soon to be applied for FL CCW. I'm a former G19 owner, but alway's complained about the short grip, but I'll comprimise short grip for standard cap mags, albiet in a G23 mag. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

On a related note, I understand some Beretta's and Springfield XD's can cram more 9mm rounds in the 10rd. .40 mags? I know this is moot in free states, but progressive CA are still living in the past, while free states "load up" for the future.

Discuss.

Your not smart asking on a public board to get around the 10 round max in Ca.

I'm assuming Stanze meant for travelling out of state...

As I recall, my old boss' HK USP 40 mags held 9mm OK. But I'm not sure if these were the 13rd hicap 40s or they were 10rds.

10 round .40 cal Springfield XD mags can hold 15 rounds of 9mm. Some slight tweaking of the feed lips may be necessary for proper function.

From: http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/regs/sb23indx.htm

Effective January 1, 2000, SB 23 generally prohibits, the manufacture, import, sale, giving or lending of large capacity magazines (defined as any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but does not include .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding devices).

How am I manufacturing, importing, selling, giving, or lending a large capacity magazine by owning a standard 10 round CA Legal Glock 23 magazine and some 9mm rounds? All perfectly legal at the moment in CA.

Bill, yep the FL CCW would be for traveling out of state, but I fully intend on shoving 15 rounds of 9mm into CA legal 10 round G23 magazines fired through a Glock 19 at the range(OUT OF STATE*). I don't have the gun, magazines or ammo yet, but that's what I plan on doing(OUT OF STATE*).

As long as you don't change the 10 rd 40 mag in any way, there is nothing illegal about filling it all the way up with 9mmP. You did not manufacture a new magazine. Tweak the feed lips and they might (how this would come to light, I'm not sure of) be able to make a case for manufacture. This was part of a verbal discussion I had with one of the DOJ enforcement guys.

The magazines for my SIG 2340 will hold 12 rounds of 9mm. I could get a Bar-Sto 9mm barrel for it, and do that.

I wouldn't want to be the "test case", though http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Anyone know how many 9mm rounds will fit into a Glock 32(.357 SIG version of the G19,G23) 10 round mag?

I might be wrong, but I believe the .357sig is a .40 case necked down to hold a 9mm bullet.

Just remember that you can over compress the mag spring and ruin it so that the spring doesn't have enough power to push up the last couple of rounds.
I have a 25 round mag for my Hi-Powers and I found out that I could actually put 30 rounds in it. Well I did this a few times, until after awhile it wouldn't push up the last 2 rounds. I ended up having to buy a new mag spring. Now I just load the correct number and not worry about adding more. I know that my 15 round mags will hold 16, and the 30 rounders will hold 33, and my 17 rounders will hold 19, but I will not load them to those capasities.
