Now this looks interesting for those of us who would like to chuck a decent .30 cal outta a AR-15 sized rifle and dont want to spend $$ on a AR-10.

Wow, it looks like Remington went through a lot of trouble to reinvent the .30 Remington from early in the last century. I don't know how well it will do long term. 7.62x39 is way cheaper, and you can get almost the same performance as a .30-30 out of it. If you are going to go with something that is going to be expensive to load, and next to impossible to find in stores, why limit yourself to slightly better than .30-30 performance? Just so you can hunt with an AR? Get a 6.5 or 6.8 upper and call it a day. If you need something bigger, either get that AR10 or a real hunting rifle.

The 30 rem ar cartridge is OK on paper but the 6.8 SPC is a tad better. You can't really load heavy bullets in either one so it's a 300 yard cartridge maximum. Both are better than a .223 for hunting bigger game.
